Windows 10: Screen Brightness Maxes Out Automatically When Game Is Launched Or Display Setting Is Changed

This is only something that has started happening relatively recently, but every time I launch a game or change any kind of display setting, my screen maxes out the brightness for no reason. There are no driver updates available and there is no adaptive brightness. My laptop is a Dell g7 17. Any help with fixing this would be greatly appreciated.

Some computers can let Windows automatically adjust screen brightness based on the current lighting conditions.

To manually adjust the screen brightness, we suggest following these troubleshooting steps:

• Click Start, then select Settings.
• Choose System, then select Display.
• Under Brightness and color, move the Change brightness slider to adjust the brightness.

Change screen brightness

My laptop screen is dull. Need to make it brighter. However the suggestion --> Start - Settings - System - Brightness and color

does not work. It is already set to max. brightness but there is no reaction. Screen remains dull. By the way there is no change if I move slide to minimum brightness, it would not change brightness level at all. Any suggestion?

 

Problem with screen brightness changing automatically

I use an ASUS TUF Gaming Laptop, which is around an year old. For last few days, the brightness of my screen keeps changing automatically. I have checked every brightness setting under display but there is no option called 'Change brightness automatically
when lighting changes'.

This brightness change is affecting my ability to stay focused on the screen and seems very annoying. I need some help fixing this.
