Windows 10: Screen dim timeout setting under batter power ignored. What to do?

When i am on battery power and batter is 90%+ charged, after exactly 50 seconds the screen slightly dims repeatable and after 10 more seconds it goes dark reproducible on multiple trials. In System>>Power and Battery, Power Mode is set to "Balanced" and "Screen and Sleep" is set to "On battery power turn off my screen after 3 minutes".Is there some other secret setting somewhere that affects this? Why is this happening? It is a big hassle. I barely pause doing something for like half a minute...and my screen is dark. What should i do about this to prevent it from happening?Thank

How to change the Screen Timeout settings

  Right click on the desktop and click on Personalization.
  
• 
  Click on Lock screen
  
• 
  On the bottom of the screen click on Screen Timeout.
  
• 
  Under screen select the Time period accordingly.

Power Settings Ignored by Lenovo Yoga 400 laptop

• Did you make any changes to your computer? I dont know.. what kind of changes are you talking about. I only added software.. like Norton Security and a few free MSFT apps.
• Which Build are you currently in? I dont know..probably the latest one. How do i determine "the build"?? I always update windows and pretty sure this is up to date here.
• Which troubleshooting steps did you try? Tried everything that was suggested,..power troubleshooter, update graphics card, set power settings to default, and other things.. nothing worked. Has been a problem for many months.
  How do i do this clean boot? I will need instructions for these things..step by step. i am tired of this machine ignoring the power settings. Need this fixed.

Ok, your steps were wrong. I figured it out... it is control panel, then Troubleshoot, then system and security and then Power. I ran the troubleshooter and it said the usual... screen saver is on and display too bright. then it really dimmed the display
down a lot and too dim for sure. I had to raise the brightness back to a reasonable level. i can turn off the screen saver , but that didnt help in past. Let me try it and do some tests.

ok, it turned the screen saver off so i dont need to.

Results--->Ok, so i tested this out. The settings with plug out , just using battery... both failed.

It should turn off screen at 5 minutes and it did not.

Twice it sat over 5 minutes inactive and the screen did not turn off either time. So it is a failure.

Do you have any other suggestions. Does Lenovo install anything that could prevent machine from using the WIndows 10 settings properly??

So i put the screen saver back on at 4minutes and that works and it also turns off the screen, but it never goes to sleep at the time it is supposed to. This is at least better than doing what that troubleshooter did.

after the troubleshooter, the machine never turned off the screen. Not sure how to get it to follow the settings fully and no one can fix it, even top IT pros.
