Windows 10: Screen Flashes when using pen in Photos and Snip & Sketch

Hello, My laptop's screen will flash when using the sketch/drawing features of the Photos app and Snip & Sketch. It will go black and light up again repeatedly as I am drawing. I can't recall if it does this only with my pen, or with regular touch as well.Specs;Windows 10 HomeHP Spectre x360 Convertible 15-bl1XX

Screen Sketch app renamed to Snip & Sketch in Windows 10 Insider build

The Screen Sketch app was first introduced in Windows 10 build 17661.

Screen Sketch lets you quickly annotate screenshots, photos and other images with your pen, touch, or mouse and save, paste or share with other apps.

Starting with Windows 10 Insider Skip Ahead build 18219, Screen Sketch app has been updated to version 10.1807.2286.0 and renamed to Snip & Sketch.

The new version adds the ability to delay a snip up to 3 or 10 seconds. Under the New menu, you can select to "Snip now", "Snip in 3 seconds", or "Snip in 10 seconds".

I'm John an Independent Advisor and a Microsoft user like you. I'll be happy to assist you today. I understand you have a problem with Windows Photo and Snip and Sketch not working. Did you made any changes recently? When was the last time it was working properly?
What is your current windows version and edition? Press Start then search Settings, select System then About.

Kindly try the suggested methods below.

**Run the troubleshooter:

Select the Start button, and then select Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot, and then from the list select Windows Store apps > Run the troubleshooter.

**Make sure Photos and Snip& Sketch version is up to date

Open Microsoft Store then Click 3 dots

Select Download and Updates >

Update Microsoft Photos, Snip and Sketch or click Get Updates

**Uninstall Snip and Sketch via Powershell

Press Windows Key+X then select Powershell(Admin)

Copy paste the command below then press Enter

Get-AppxPackage *Microsoft.ScreenSketch* -AllUsers | Remove-AppxPackage

After that, Open Microsoft Store then Install Snip and Sketch

If it doesn't work, Copy paste the command below then press Enter to reinstall Snip and Sketch.

Get-AppxPackage -allusers Microsoft.ScreenSketch | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml"}

Screen flickering while using Snip and Sketch

We understand the concern as you are having a flickering screen while using Snip and sketch on your PC.
In order to get clarity and to assist you accordingly, please reply with the answers to the questions below:

• What is the make and model of the PC?
• Do you see this behavior in any other application?

Meanwhile, let us try few steps.



Step 1: Reset Snip & Sketch app.

1. Press Windows + I key to open Windows
   Settings.
   
2. Click on Apps and select
   Apps & feature from the left pane.
   
3. Scroll and look for the Snip & Sketch
   app.
   
4. Select the app and click on Advanced option.
   
5. Click on Reset and once you see a tick mark, then relaunch and check.
   

Step 2: Update display driver.

We would suggest you to update the display driver from Device Manager. Please refer this article to update the driver:
