Windows 10: SCREEN FLICKER

    SCREEN FLICKER


    I have a Dell XPS L502X and recently the screen has started to flicker intermittently. I could go hours on the PC and nothing happens then suddenly it starts flickering. then the screen will go blank. I can see the backlight but there is nothing displayed. If there is a video playing then the audio is still there. On the left side of the screen there is a band of noise scramble with tiny white dots. All this stops as suddenly as it started and I can resume with whatever I was doing.


    I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling graphics drivers. I have changed the LCD display. Nothing seems to resolve it.


    It normally happens on startup otherwise an hour after constant use. The last episode was a good few hours ago and i've had no issues.


    Ideally I would like to resolve this issue as the laptop has served me well over the years and I dont want to replace it just yet.


    Is there anything I can do to banish this problem for good?

    Screen flickering in Windows 10 safe mode

    I haven't made any changes on my device. This screen flickering is only happening in Safe Mode.

    Screen flickering can be caused by hardware or application issue.

    To better assist you, please answer the following questions:

    • Is the issue only happening in Safe Mode?
    • Have you made any changes on your device prior to the issue?

    Screen flickering in safe mode help!

    Hi Yasmeentq,

    Thank you for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

    I understand your query. I suggest you to follow the steps to get out of safe mode.


    • Press Windows key + R

    • Type msconfig

    • In msconfig > Boot tab >
      Boot Options > uncheck Safe Boot > APPLY / OK.

    Screen flickering in Windows 10 is usually caused by incompatible apps or display drivers. I suggest you to refer to the article below and check if it helps.
