    screen freezes after searching updates

This week I've assembled a desktop pc and installed Windows 10 from a purchased USB.

Everything goes well, until I hit the search updates. My screen goed black for a split second, comes back in higher resolution, but freezes. If I wait until my monitor goes in standby and click the screen comes back, but there's no further response. If I restart I get a black screen unless I go to BIOS. Windows won't start at all anymore. Only 'fix' is to wipe everything clean and reinstall windows, but looking for updates will repeat the issue...

Updating is no option obviously and my PC won't start in safe mode. What do I do?

    Setup: x570 MSI meg unify / AMD Ryzen 5 3600 /Samsung 980 PRO 1TB / Gigabyte GTX 1660 Super / 2x16GB HyperX dominator memory / 850W corsair power supply

    :)

  3. Screen Freezing up

Andre, thanks for your suggestions. I performed all steps as you listed and it appears that there were

some problems that have been corrected. I will let you know in a day or so if the "freeze" problem

occurs again. Many thanks for your help --- this took longer than I expected!
