Hello! Recently I've been having trouble with my drivers, I downloaded Minecraft on my laptop and it gave me a pop up saying that my driver was outdated and it might give me issues when playing. I asked a friend for help since I'm not good at these types of things and I was told to go onto the AMD website to update my APU AMD A6-5200 APU with Raedon HD. After I installed it my screen started freezing repeatedly, for example, it would run normally for 6 seconds and then freeze for 6 seconds. This has been happening ever since yesterday when I installed the driver and I've uninstalled and reinstalled it but nothing changes, I've even decided to just leave it uninstalled and my computer runs smoothly now but when I open Minecraft it's super delayed and slow? Does anyone have any idea how to fix this?

    :)

Installing amd drivers freezes my laptop

My laptop is hp Pavilion g6, i7-3632qm, 6 Gb RAM igpu is intel HD 4000 and dgpu is Radeon 7670m.

After upgrading windows 8.1 to 10, the laptop doesn't detect the AMD GPU and freezes whenever at 54% when installing the drivers.

I also did a clean reformat to windows 10 but still to no avail.

    Suggestion please

  3. switchable AMD graphic not working in windows 10 ..black screen and freeze during installation of amd driver

    Hi,

I can understand that must make you feel upset and we will work toward fixing this situation for you.

Just to clarify, what exactly do you mean by, "leshcat not working"?

I suggest you to try the methods below and check if it helps.

Method 1 : Uninstall AMD driver

Try uninstalling the AMD driver through device manage and restart the computer and have Windows automatically install the latest driver upon restart.

    1. Press Windows key + X and select device manager.

    2. Locate the AMD driver and uninstall it.

    3. Restart the computer and check again.

    Method 2: Compatibility mode

As you mentioned that there are no drivers for Windows 10, I suggest you to download the available Windows 7 driver from the manufacturer's website and install it in compatibility mode by following the steps below:

    1. Right-click on the setup file of the driver and select "Properties".

    2. Select "Compatibility" Tab.

    3. Place a check mark next to "Run this program in Compatibility mode" and select Windows 7 from the drop down list.

    4. Let the driver install and then check the functionality.

Let us know the result, we will be glad to help if you need further assistance.

Screen freezes for 6 seconds repeatedly after installing AMD driver

Windows 10 freeze randomly (black screen), AMD R9 290X driver

    I've installed build 10547.

After the installation, login screen, enter, installation finishes and few seconds after when I've clicked on the start menu, the left screen becames black, the cursor was moving for 2 secs and then the computer freeze.

I can see the cursor since I have two screens. The left screen is plugged to the AMD R9 290X and the right one to the Intel HD Graphics 4600. When the left screen goes black and the computer will freeze, I can see the cursor moving on the right one.

Then, I reboot. Run msconfig, start in Safe mode.

Uninstall the AMD Radeon R9 200 Series driver version 15.200.1062.1004.

Restart, go back to the device manager and check that no AMD driver is loaded. Fine.

I've decided to update all drivers for the BIOS and the Gigabyte GA-Z97X-Gaming 3 motherboard.

During the time I've not AMD driver loaded, no problem. I've used Microsoft Edge to search, download files, ...

and no black screen. Approximately during two hours.

Then I've decided to re-install the AMD driver.

I've downloaded the AMD drivers using the AutoDetect utility.

The version 15.7.1 was the correct version assuming the utility.

I've launched the installer, just wait it uncompress all files and do not launch the catalyst installer.

Go back to the device manager and click the update driver. Manual selection and select the folder where the drivers have been uncompressed.

The installation runs properly, check the driver version in Device manager.

    Restart.

At the first logon, once in, simply click the start menu, it freezes.

Hard reset, since nothing to do. No power off button, ctrl+alt+del, ....

Retry, once logged-in, wait for one or two minutes.

Starts Microsoft Edge, go to youtube and check if it freezes during video playback. Play videos full-screen, back, full-screen... No problem.

Then click again on the start menu on the left screen, black screen - freeze again.

As I said before, In Startup and Recovery options, I've set :

    - Write an event to the system log

    - Automatically restart

    - Kernel memory dump

    - Change the location of the dump file to the second disk (not the one hosting the OS)

    - Disable automatic deletetion .....

When it freezes, no dump. Why ?

Drivers are in kernel, then why no dump files are generated.

For now, the only choice I have is to disable the driver to be able to work and not rebooting every seconds.

What can I do to identify the problem ?

    Have a nice day,

    D.
