Windows 10: Screen freezing when idle work around

My computer, using Windows 10 Pro, has been freezing and going off-line whenever it is left idle requiring a restart. I have tried to fix it by following the suggestions posted by the Community without success. However, I have found a work around. As the computer does not freeze when I am using it, it occurred to me that if I were to run a app in the background that might prevent it from freezing. I am now running "Core Temp" all the time, which is a free programme that displays the CPU temperature. The screen no longer freezes. Does this make sense to anyone? Has anyone found a proper fix

The tutorials provided are just a list of troubleshooting steps. Use only the steps which apply to you.

Since none of the troubleshooting steps here worked, I'd suggest you do a Clean install.

E71X idle screen

Thanks, I can see how to change orientation of the idle screen from Vertical to Horizontal but there doesn't seem to be a way to remove my tasks from the Idle Screen. Any suggestions?

 

Windows 10 restarts after being idle and then freezes on boot

If I leave my Windows 10 machine idle for some period of time - I haven't been able to work out how long - something fails and the machine restarts. After it restarts it will freeze on the boot screen, i.e., the screen with the spinner. Multiple hard resets
do not fix the freezing problem. Sometimes I can force the machine to restart in Safe Mode - in some case it will then boot into Safe mode, and in other cases it will boot into regular mode as if nothing had happened.

I have:

• scanned my RAM, which found no errors
• Reinstalled Windows from media
• Performed a system restore

Yet, the problem persists.
