Windows 10: Screen going dark and locking after a few seconds of inactivity after upgrate: 2023-09...

After upgrading to the Windows 11 2023-09 Cumulative Update for Windows 11 Version 22H2 for x64-based Systems KB5030219 the screen becomes dark automatically after about 5 seconds of inactivity and windows lock almost immediately. Nothing into power options seems to be configured to allow such a behavior.I found a similar post here: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/insider/forum/all/screen-dimming-after-a-few-seconds-of-inactivity/61495635-4a84-4db8-b597-a877cb1e4852 but the post has been locked and same as _adin, I do not have the options recommended in the 1st reply.

Windows 10 locks after inactivity

We have two computers that act as registers at my place of business that we need to not go to the lock screen due to inactivity. Using the GPOs on the domain server I've applied GPOs to disable password protecting the screen saver as well as to not require
a password on wake up.

On one computer it works on the other it does not and the computer continues to lock. I've checked the rsop.msc as well as the power plan settings and they are all correctly set. I've also tried completely disabling the screen saver and it still goes to the
lock screen after inactivity. Doesn't even sleep just locks. The only difference between these two systems is that the one that doesn't work is 32bit (no idea if that has anything to do with it) but it only started locking after upgrading to windows 10. Windows
7 was fine.

If anyone has any suggestions or an answer I have been unable to find anything related to this subject where the suggestion isn't just to disbable lock on screen saver, disable the screen saver, or disable lock screen on wakeup in the power settings. (All of
these have been done)

 

Windows Spotlight lock screen is stuck with dark screen since tried this Microsoft solution:

My lock screen was stuck for months with the same picture,

I just searched for a solution and found here - Windows Spotlight lock screen is stuck on the same picture!

After I did all steps as suggested, I now have a black screen when Windows is loaded (before entering the password).

Please help me to solve this problem, black-dark screen is not nice at all.

Set PC to go to lock screen after inactivity w/o shutting off screen?


This might be a stupid question but I havent found a solution for it myself, probably looking in all the wrong places.. would like to be able to have my computer go to the lock screen after an alotted time of inactivity without turning off the screen itself as in the power settings. I usually have screen shutoff/sleep set for longer periods but would like the screen to lock sooner. Is this possible?
