Windows 10: Screen greyed out after entering Admin credentials remotely

Hello, I work for a company with about a thousand employees. As an IT service, we sometimes have to take over PCs remotely and sometimes adjust certain settings that have to be done as an admin. Sometimes it happens that after we enter our Admin credentials the screen remains 'greyed out'. All we can do is move our cursor and Ctrl Alt Del. Does anyone have an idea how this can be resolved? Remotely logoff users command with credentials

Hi areebyounus,

It's hard to tell why it's not accepting your credentials, however I can suggest an alternate solution.

Download PSTools from the following website:
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/d...

Unzip the files to a new folder located C:\PSTools

Then do the following:

- Open Command Prompt as administrator

- Enter: cd C:\PSTools

- Enter: psexec.exe \\<ENTER SERVER NAME HERE> cmd

- You will then be prompted for admin credentials

Once you have entered the correct credentials (remember to use DOMAIN\USERNAME, or SERVERNAME\LOCAL_USERNAME) you will have a Command Prompt session running from that particular server. You can then do the below steps to remotely log off a user:

- Enter: query session

- Note down the session ID of the user you wish to log off

- Enter: logoff # (where # is the ID number of the user above)

After upgrading to Windows 10 Pro, Remote Desktop is not working

I suggest you to run Built In troubleshooter and check if it helps.

Step 1: Please follow the steps below to run Built in Troubleshooter:

• Type Troubleshooting in the Search area on the taskbar.
  
• Click on View all on the left panel of the Troubleshooting Windows.
  
• Select Windows store Apps.
  
• Follow the on screen instruction.

Step 2: After running Troubleshooter follow the below steps.

• Type Remote Desktop in search bar.
• Select Remote Desktop app and open it.
• In the bottom you will see a button as Show Options.
• Click on Show Options, you will see the options to enter your credentials.
• Enter the credentials and click on Connect.
• Check if it works.
