  1. screen is grey after driver update, not sure if motherbord, gpu or driver or how to fix it.

it started with some weird bluescreens at random moments in november, after a while i noticed that the pc would bluescreen whenever i opened the file explorer of all things, as this was right before my exams got really stressed, so i tried repairing windows, doing integrity checks on my disc and ram, however everything came back looking good exept the obvious problem of bluescreening on opening the file explorer. then i just clean installed windows 10, as that seamed the easiest and low effort solution. And it worked! It worked for about a month, and i finished my exams, until i tried playing

  2. Black Screen During Driver Update screen is grey after driver update, not sure if motherbord, gpu or driver or how to fix it. :(

I reinstalled my laptop back to factory settings, and I wanted to update the GPU drivers. But when I try, the screen turns black during the update, but the computer is still running. I was forced to turn off the computer and turn it back on. I used system restore, so now I'm using the default drivers that came with the laptop. Can you guys suggest anything?

  3. VIDEO DXGKRNL FATAL ERROR since GPU driver update - unable to fix it

    Hi,

I am using an Acer Aspire VN7-791 laptop and I think something broke after the latest Nvidia driver update. I've taken the laptop apart about a dozen times already and cleaned it and repaired the motherboard (screws were broken that held the gpu and cpu fan in place so heating was terrible and it made the machine terribly slow). After fixing that though, I kept getting this DXGKRNL error and blue screens, I did a bunch of trouble shooting and fixes and reinstalling a previous GPU driver seemed to have fixed the problem. No blue screens for about a month, until a few days ago a driver update was pushed again and without thinking I installed it..

Current problem: Laptop boots normally, with the onboard intel GPU chip and the Nvidia 860M GPU, but as soon as a program tries to use the Nvidia GPU I get a bluescreen with "video_dxgkrnl_fatal_error", one time there was also a "dpc_watchdog_violation" (not sure if this is relevant). When the laptop boots after the bluescreen the Nvidia GPU will not load and then of course the computer works just fine, but of course I would like to fix the issue and keep using the Nvidia GPU.

Some troubleshooting and fixes I've tried:

    • Cleanly installing the previous driver or other versions of drivers, including reinstalling the newest one.
    • Reinstalling the gpu drivers in safe boot mode
    • completely removing gpu drivers and uninstalling the device through device manager (used DisplayDriverUninstaller to get rid off nvidia drivers)
    • sfc scan (no bad results)
    • DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth (no corruptions found)
    • turning off antivirus
    • running a malware scan
    • checking disk health with crystaldiskinfo
    • running windows update (computer is up-to-date)
Please if anyone can help me out with this, I would really appreciate it, I'm at my wits end here and been tinkering for days.

Windows ver: Version 10.0.19044 Build 19044 Microsoft Windows 10 Pro

  4. screen is grey after driver update, not sure if motherbord, gpu or driver or how to fix it.

Windows update keeps replacing ALPS Touchpad driver with a Synaptics driver.

    Hi,

Thank you for posting your query in Microsoft Community. Appreciate your interest in using Windows 10.

I suggest you to uninstall and delete the previous drivers and the latest drivers for the touchpad and install the required version of the driver from Device Manager by following the steps below:

    • Press Windows key + X and select Device Manager from the list.
    • Expand the Touch pad driver.
    • Right click on the driver and click on update/install.
    • Select the required version from the on-screen prompts.

And for the problem with the installation of printer drivers, I suggest you to run the Windows Update troubleshooter by following the steps below:

    • Type “Troubleshooting” in search box and press Enter.
    • Click on “View All” option on top left pane.
    • Select “Windows Update” from the list and follow the prompts for troubleshooting.

Hope the information is helpful. Feel free to
write to us for any other assistance with Windows, we’ll be glad to assist you.
