Screen Looks too Dim & Issues w/ Display Colour Calibration

My screen just looks dim to me, especially when compared to other laptop screens, and if I take a screenshot of something on my laptop and send it to my phone it appears much brighter on there. I discovered this was an issue when taking screenshots of my art and noticing the drawings brightness was much higher on my phone than on my laptop. I tried using display colour calibration but the brightness and contrast sections don't let me make adjustments, is there a reason why?

    :)

  2. Windows 10 Display/Screen colour calibration problem

    Thank you Vanessa,

In the end a very kind MS technician looked into my computer using remote control and he was unable to fix the problem and recommended that I do a System Restore.

I did this and the colour problem has disappeared and the screen display colours are back to "normal."

It is a real mystery why the colour distortion happened and also why re-setting Display/Colour calibration didn't work ????

Thanks for your reply - much appreciated

Fall Creators Update Colour Calibration Issue

Hello folks, first post on here.

My problem is the Fall Creators Update seems to have an issue with colour calibration - I have quite an old calibration tool by modern standards which is a Pantone Huey Pro, but it's worked perfectly from Windows 7 until the FC Update. Now the ICC profile won't stick and the screen is very bright with a magenta cast. I see other people are having problems with colour calibration with this update.

I've gone into Task Scheduler and tried disabling the Calibration Loader in 'Windows Colour System', then gone through the calibration procedure again as other forum posts have suggested, and all looks good until the moment comes to save the profile and exit the calibration procedure, then Windows reverts to the bright screen with magenta cast and loses the calibrated settings.

I'm a photographer so I'll need to get this sorted otherwise I can't accurately edit my photos. I've previously rolled back Windows but within days the FC Update forcibly installs again. Very frustrating!

    Can anyone help me please?

    Hi Donald,

Thank you for updating on the status.

I would like to ask if you are using a desktop or a laptop. The steps provided by Likhitha was for laptop.

If you are using a desktop, follow the steps below.

    • Navigate to Start>Settings>System>Display.
    • In the right pane, click on Advanced Display Settings.
    • Click on Color Calibration under Related Settings.
    • Provide password (if any) for the UAC prompt and click on OK.
    • Click on next and follow the on screen prompts to adjust the brightness and contrast.

If the issue still persists, suggest you to change the display settings of the monitor using the option keys provided in the monitor.

Hope the information is helpful. Keep us posted on the status.
