Windows 10: Screen on/off and PIN code

Hello. I don't know how to turn off the screen without making the laptop go to sleep. I need to leave my laptop running when my laptop is running tasks or video creation. FN+F6/F7 only controls keyboard backlighting. Also, how do start up without having to use a PIN?Thanks.

    Are you not able to enter pin code in the lock screen?
    

I suggest you to use On-Screen keyboard and check if can enter the pin code.

Forgotten PIN and expired password

Thanks for your answer.

I tried steps of both links:

• #1: reset PIN code
  
  • I see no link "reset your PIN"on login page --> I can't reset it
    
• #2: change or reset windows password
  
  • My Windows account is not displayed at all on login page.
    
  • I am using a local account
    

If you have any other suggestion, I would be more than happy to try.

Hi Matthew,

There's a possibility that the PIN code you're asked to enter is the PIN code of your Windows 10 user account. If you signed in to Windows 10 using your Microsoft account, the Xbox app will take the credentials you've used to sign in. Let's remove the PIN
code. Here are the steps:

1. Click Start and select Settings.
2. Select Accounts.
3. Select Sign-in options, under PIN, click
   Remove.
4. Confirm the changes by entering your profile password.

If the same instance occurs after removing the PIN code and changing your user account's sign-in options, we suggest that you sign in to
Xbox.com. This is to verify if there's an issue with your Xbox account.
