  1. Screen projection no longer working after the latest windows 11 update

After the latest windows update screen projection is no longer worrking - press windows+k and select the 2nd device - "pc1 is about to connect" displays for 5-10 seconds then it fails. Have tried 2 different networks and re-starting several times without success - this worked seamlessly yesterday before windows update. Any suggestions appreciated.

    :)

  2. Windows 11 Projecting to TV Screen

I have downloaded windows 11 and having issues projecting my laptop to a Smart TV. I go through the steps to add the device and am able to project my laptop screen at that time. The issue begins when I want to do it the next time. The only way that I can get it to work, is to remove the device (TV) from my list of devices then re-add it every time I want to project to the TV. There has to be a better way to do this but it is all that has worked for me.

  3. Project Second screen constantly appearing.

    Hi Norga,

Thank you for using Windows 10.

Let us know some more information so that we can diagnose and troubleshoot the issue in a better way:

    • what is the exact issue that you want us to help with? Do you want to get help in projecting a second screen or to remove the popup?
    • As you've said " I tried unsuccessfully to project a screen", do you wish to project a second screen currently?
    • What happened exactly when you tried to project a second screen? Did you receive any error message or any error code?
The popup comes as the system might not be able to detect the monitors. I suggest you to update the Display drivers, it may force the system to detect the available monitors. Here is the steps:

    • Press “Windows + X” and select Device manger.
    • Locate the driver and expand the driver icon.
    • Right click on the driver icon and click on Update.

Reply with the information and we'll be happy to assist you.

Project to PC Screen Only does not work on Windows 11

    Hi

    Welcome to Microsoft community.

Your issue with the "Project to PC Screen Only" option not working as expected on Windows 11, despite trying multiple troubleshooting steps, can indeed be perplexing. Given the steps you've already taken, here are additional suggestions to help resolve the issue:

    Update Windows

Ensure that your Windows 11 is fully updated. Although you mentioned there are no optional updates, it's always good to double-check as new fixes are regularly released:

    • Go to Settings > Windows Update and click on Check for updates.
    Update BIOS and Firmware

Since this is a brand new Lenovo X1 Carbon Thinkpad, updating the BIOS and firmware can sometimes resolve hardware compatibility issues:

    • Visit the Lenovo Support website, enter your model, and download the latest BIOS and firmware updates for your laptop.
    • Disclaimer: Microsoft provides no assurances and/or warranties, implied or otherwise, and is not responsible for the information you receive from the third-party linked sites or any support related to technology.

If you are going to modify BIOS Settings, please back up all your personal files first to ensure you do not lose data.
Use Windows Key + P Shortcut

If you haven't already, try using the Windows Key + P shortcut to toggle through the different projection modes. Sometimes, using this shortcut provides different results compared to selecting the option through the settings menu.

    Check for Hardware Issues

Although it's a new laptop, there's a small chance there could be a hardware issue with the HDMI port or the internal connection to the display. Testing with another display output option, such as USB-C or DisplayPort (if available on your model), could help rule this out.

    Reset Display Settings

Try resetting your display settings to their default values:

    • Right-click on the desktop and select Display settings.
    • Scroll down and look for an option to Reset these display settings or Advanced display settings and then look for a reset option.
Create a New Windows User Profile

There might be a user profile-specific issue causing this problem. Creating a new Windows user profile can help determine if the issue is profile-specific:

    • Go to Settings > Accounts > Family & other users.
    • Click on Add someone else to this PC and follow the prompts to create a new user account.
    Perform a Clean Boot

Performing a clean boot can help identify if third-party software is causing the issue:

    • Type System Configuration in the Windows search box and open it.
    • Go to the Services tab, check Hide all Microsoft services, and then click Disable all.
    • Next, go to the Startup tab and click on Open Task Manager. Disable all startup items, then restart your computer.
    • Disclaimer: A “clean boot” starts Windows with a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. It helps to determine whether a background service is interfering with your game or program and to isolate the cause of a problem.

These steps of "clean boot" might look complicated at first glance. However, to avoid any trouble for you, please follow them in order and step-by step so that it will help you get back on track.
    Contact Lenovo Support

Since this is a brand new laptop and the issue persists across different monitors and cables, reaching out to Lenovo Support might provide a more specific solution. There could be known issues with your particular model that they can address or provide a fix for.

Please feel free to let me know how it goes.

    Best regards
