Windows 10: Screen Randomly freezes and asks what audio device I just plugged in

So for the past couples of months I've been having this problem on my pc, saw someone else on here describing the exact same issue but they didn't get an answer, The effect is that the computer freezes for about 5 seconds and then continues. Associated with that is a message from the Realtek Audio informing me I have just plugged a device into the audio input even if there isn't one. It does not require there to be any audio playing at the time this happens, though if there is audio, then that either goes silent or issues what can best be described as a buzz until the system resumes. Windows 10 freezes randomly

I had already tried turning off fast startup, to no avail.
Will look at the list you provided, thanks. Hard to do when computer freezes on the Windows loading screen though. *Biggrin

I had tried that as well... no result.

 

Rear audio ports always show as “Not plugged in”


I've been having this issue with Windows for about a week now which NONE of the back panel/front panel connectors (speakers, microphone) are being recognized by Realtek audio manager. The only audio input/outputs that are showing are the optical.
Troubling shooting steps I've tried (none worked):

• COMPLETELY uninstall all Realtek drivers/reinstall
  
• Tried using windows drivers
  
• Reinstall Windows 10
  
• Upgraded chipset driver
  
• sfc /scannow

I called EVGA and asked for RMA but then I booted into a Ubuntu OS and all the ports work FINE. It must be a problem with windows 10.
Can you think of any other troubling shooting step I can try to fix this annoying issue? Thanks!

After looking in Device Manager under Audio inputs and outputs, I don't see any speaker/microphone listings, only the optical crap:

 

System freezes randomly

My computer freezes randomly, it could be playing videos, games, or merely being idle. All input and output devices freeze (screen freeze and audio as well).

I have reinstalled the system in the SSD but no luck.

I have also tried the SFC scan and the DISE scan, check and restore fix. Just wonder how can I know what causing the error exactly. The event viewer did show some error but errors were about forced restart after the freeze instead of what happened at or
before the freeze.
