Briefly upon starting up a box shows up saying "The screen is not currently set to the recommended resolution. Configure the PC resolution to 2560x1440. The 2560x1440 resolution may not be supported on some PCs. Current resolution: 2560x960." This box shows up correctly, by the way. The display is an LG 27GL83A-B UltraGear. While difficult to navigate, I did manage to open Settings to try some things, none of which work:-Changing the disp

  2. Screen Resolution

    Hi Daniel,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community.

I understand that you have a few doubts regarding your Windows 10 screen resolution. Let me help you.

    • Do you see any error message or error code on the screen?

    • What is the model of your computer?

    • Are you able to access the modern apps?

I suggest you to update the Display Adapter Drivers

Step 1: Update the Display Adapter driver.

    • Press Windows key + X key when you are at desktop.
    • Select Device Manager.
    • Expand Display Adapter.
    • Right on the Display Adapter and click on
      Update driver software.
    Refer to: How
to: Install and Update drivers in Windows 10

Step 2: Please follow the below steps to change the resolution of the screen and check:

    • Type Change screen resolution in the
      Search
      box from the desktop.
    • Under Resolution search for the Recommended resolution and click on
      Apply.
    • A windows pops up saying "Keep these display settings", then select
      Keep changes.

I hope the issue will be resolved. Please reply with the updated status of the issue. We will be happy to assist you accordingly.

    Thank you.

  3. Problem with resolutions on a duplicated display

Thanks Graeme but it sound like you're just stating the obvious: if the 2 displays run at the same resolution, then you can duplicate them with no changes of resolution.

My question is what is going on when the 2 displays are running at different resolutions? In my case, display 1 (PC) is running at a higher resolution (4K) than display 2 (DTV)'s FHD, but I can still duplicate display 1 on display 2. While I don't expect
display 2 to be running at 4K, why is it running at only HD? Seems like something is converting the 4K signal to HD and not to FHD.

Display 2 looks exactly like Display 1 except that everything, like text, looks fuzzier due to the HD resolution.

Under "Advanced display settings" for Display 2: DTV, it shows "Desktop resolution" at 3840x2160 but "Active signal resolution" at only 1280x720.

Is there some way to change the conversion ratio?
