You don't need to do that. Just use the Photos screensaver. If you want to create your own screensaver there are several applications. In the past (Windows XP) I used Axialis screensaver producer. Haven't seen the new version, but then I could create a screensaver from a series of pictures or a Flash file, or even a video file.

    Screen Saver Question

I'll try your suggestion. Funny though, the default screen saver selecting the "Photos" option works as advertised on another almost identical PC.

While there are ways to work around the solid background in order to use transparent screensavers in Windows 10, which I managed to locate on one particular IT professionals site, it still failed to work on my Dell Desktop. As such, having worked with computers for many years including having done computer operations I chose a very simple method, which was to simply copy and paste the little Microsoft "Bubbles" icon from my Windows system 32 files and place it on the bottom right hand corner of my desktop. At that point, all one needs to do is simply click on the icon and you'll have your transparent background. Set your screensaver setting to "None" and then just click the icon on your desktop. I have about a half dozen transparent screensavers that I have neatly lined up in this area of my desktop and it's that simple. Hope this helps for those who enjoy their transparent screensavers as much as I do. Note: I did switch my mouse back to a USB mouse, since using my wireless mouse would wear down the battery, but no big deal and it works fine. This won't harm your operating system in any way because all you've done is copy and paste it to your desktop allowing these types of screensavers to perform transparently in Windows 10. *Wink

In your case I would go with spapakons suggestion and try using the Watch 4 Idle app since it appears that you can adjust the settings somewhat. I've never used it so I would have to install it to test its capabilities. With my suggestion, because the Microsoft Bubbles screensaver has no settings such as the ability to use the escape button to turn it off for example, verses using the mouse, you're basically stuck using the mouse and if the mouse moves; as in your case with a rocking ship you'd have to click on the icon again. Since you're using a laptop though, you could just disable the mouse if you're using one since you have the pad on a laptop. In that instance, it would take touching the pad to turn it off. Good luck. I have a feeling that Microsoft has had a lot of feedback with regards to the transparent screensavers so maybe they'll come up with a fix for it, who knows? *sarc

You are welcome! Also about the ESC button, I don't really remember, but it might be possible to configure it in the settings to stop with ESC. Have a look.

I couldn't get that Watch for Idle program to start Bubbles Screensaver in Windows 7 (transparent background) mode, but I wrote a program years ago which does the trick with Task Manager. It is set for 1 minute idle time.

Read the previous posts. Watch 4 idle loads an application (EXE) after a set interval of inactivity. You can configure it to load a screensaver (SCR). If you unhide known file extensions in Windows Explorer settings and then change the extension of a screensaver file from SCR to EXE, you could also double-click to start manually the screensaver, but of course the point is to execute automatically after some seconds (minutes).
