Windows 10: Screen saver won't work after installing 20H2

A few weeks ago I installed 20H2 and all was well except the screen saver won't work. I searched lots of support issues but none of them fixed the problem. I reverted back to just before the 20H2 build and the screen saver works again. I decided to totally wipe my machine and try again. I formatted the hard drive and installed 64bit Windows 10. The screen saver worked fine. I then did the various updates to get it current except 20H2 and the screen saver still works. I have not installed any of my applications. I then installed 20H2 and now my screen saver no longer works. I'm getting no errors in the device manager and I have no oddball hardware installed.


This is VERY frustrating as I can't find any errors anywhere but my screen saver doesn't work. I'm sure if I revert back to just before installing 20H2 the screen saver will work again.


Any ideas or suggestions? Frankly i'm getting tired of sites that will fix the problem if I just buy their tool first!

Let us know what happens exactly when you try to set the screen-saver or put the computer to sleep.

I would suggest you to review he settings and check. Here is the steps:

To change Screen Saver:

• Press Windows/Start key.
• Type Screen Saver and click on Change Screen Saver.
• Select the screensaver from the drop down menu and click on Apply.
• Click on OK.

To put the computer in sleep:

• Press Windows/Start key.
• Type Power and click on Power Options.
• Select Change when the computer sleeps in the left panel.

The issue you encountered with screen saver can be due to incorrect screen saver settings. To better isolate your concern, we'd like to ask the following:

• Have you tried changing the screen saver settings?
• Are you trying to off the the screen saver?

Meanwhile, you can follow these steps to turn off your screen saver:

• Open Settings and Select Personalization.
• Click Lock screen, scroll down and choose Screen saver settings.
• Choose None in the drop-down menu.
• Select Apply.
• Click OK.
