Windows 10: screen snip not capturing selected image

I cannot get the screen snip tool to capture the image I select on my screen.


Prior, I would select the screen snip tool from the Action Center, select the area to be captured and hear an audible chime. This would put the highlighted image on my clip board to be pasted elsewhere.


Now I select the tool, highlight - but do not hear the chime. The tool is not capturing the image to be copied.


Can you please advice how I can recreate this action successfully? Thank you.

Snipping Tool Enlarging Images

Hi Heather,

Snipping Tool has various options on how you can capture images in your computer. To change it to normal snipping, follow the steps below:

• Press Windows + S to open Search Box.
• Type Snipping Tool, then click it.
• Click New.
• Click the drop-down menu in New.
• Select Rectangular Snip.

Screen Capture software

Upon checking on your concern, we have found a suggestion that may help you take a screenshot of the dropdown menu using the Snipping tool. Please follow the steps below:

• Launch Snipping tool.
• Right-click the menu you wish to take a screenshot.
• Press CTRL + Fn+ Print Scrn.
• Once you've already taken the print screen of the menu, you may try using the snipping tool and check if it will be able to capture the drop down menu.

Screen being select with Screen Sketch has a transparent thin layer of red over it

We understand that when you take a screen sketch the area has a reddish color over the screen, we will look into this for you.



We suggest you to refer the steps mentioned below and see if that helps:

1. Open then Snipping Tool.
   
2. Click on Options.
   
3. Under Selection, uncheck the box for
   Show selection ink after snips are captured.
   
4. Click on OK.
