    Screen turned green and fuzzy on a game and then computer crashed. Now when I load it up...


    My computer crashed yesterday whilst playing GTA 5. Unsure on what the issue is I suspect it's the graphics card. Managed to launch computer in safe mode and tried fixing it from there using all sorts of command prompt 'fixes' I found online. Nothing has worked. I tried updating windows also but it tells me it can't do it and reverts the changes.


    I managed to get the computer to load but everything seems massive and fuzzy as if my graphics card is not working. I can't update the card drivers as every time I do the computer crashes. I have an AMD XFX Radeon HD 7870 2gb graphics card.


    Can someone please help, do I need a new GPU? Everything else seems to be working fine. The GPU's fans are spinning but no lights are on.

    I suggest you run rthdribl > http://www.daionet.gr.jp/~masa/archives/rthdribl_1_2.zip
    Increase the window size step by step and watch your vga temps permanently.
    What happens?
    If it crashes, run at stock speeds as suggested before and retry.

    P.S.: When your system locks, does the display signal turn off after a time?
    Stuttering sound or no sound at all when freezing?
    What X1800XT model do you own exactly?

    Crash to static green screen?

    Happens when I'm gaming, doesn't matter what game. It does however feel like I crash more often when running older games as compared to newer games (e.g. Crash during TF2 more often than Overwatch).

    No error messages/codes comes out, as I said the screen just suddenly turns green and won't respond no matter what. I have to force restart my PC every time this happens.
