Windows 10: Screen turns black after adjusting brightness to zero

Model: Samsung 350V4X

Windows version: Professional 64 bit

The monitor turned black, as if not lit up, after brightness was set to zero. I restarted the computer, after which the logo of the manufacturer and windows showed up, and spinning dots appeared on black background, but then the screen went black again. Nothing was shown afterwards.

I suppose Windows was running by then as:

1. indicators of Caps/Num Locks work as normal;

2. Meta + Ctrl +Shift + B returns a beep.

Following the troubleshooting guide http://windows.microsoft.com/en-in/windows-10/troubleshoot-black-screen-problems, I learned this could be a driver issue, and am faced with the problem that:

Repeated force restart in order to enter WinRE may harm the system, plus the procedure varies across OEMs.

I also tried to insert a bootable WinPE drive, but it prompts "scanning and repairing I: drive" followed by exactly the same black screen.

Some computers can let Windows automatically adjust screen brightness based on the current lighting conditions.

To manually adjust the screen brightness, we suggest following these troubleshooting steps:

• Click Start, then select Settings.
• Choose System, then select Display.
• Under Brightness and color, move the Change brightness slider to adjust the brightness.

If however you are not able to change the brightness, I suggest you update your display drivers and check if it helps:

You can update drivers from the Device Manager.

Brightness can not be adjusted.

• What is the make and model of your device?
• Were you able to see any error message/ error code with this issue?
• Have you tried to install all the pending updates for drivers and Windows Updates on your device?

This issue might have happened due to corrupted/ outdated drivers.
