    Screensaver and screen time out don't trigger.


    I freshly installed Win10 Pro x64 2004 on my new desktop PC.

    I updated all drivers via Windows Updates, all drivers show fine inDevice Manager and work fine.

    The first day I configured screen time out to 10 min and noticed the screen didn't turn off. I thought I forgot to set it up but the next day I found out it was configured inPower Settings. I set the screen saver to 4 mins. None worked either the next night.

    Then I left the computer just with two cables, power and video. Everything else was disconnected mouse, keyboard, LAN, even speakers. I also set up thescreen saver to 1 min. Screen didn't turn off.

    Windows is fully updated, I updated the UEFI/BIOS prior to OS installation, all drivers are installed, screen saver and screen time out are configured. The computer almost has no software installed yet, except Chrome

    The image I installed is an original Win10 Pro x64 2004 iso, downloaded from MS. It'sactivated.


    I googled some possible solutions already and tried them:

    Checked 'On resume, display logon screen' for the screen saver.

    Resetted the Power settings.

    I set the screen time out also to 1 min.

    Screen saver preview launches, I also tried with other Win10 screensavers set. No fancy screensavers installed, just the default ones.

    I didn't SFC or repair windows because this is a fresh Win installation, fully updated that showed this behaviour from day 0. No software installed, no tricky configurations, no messing with files, registry or settings. It simply didn't work from the start. It's not an upgrade, just a full hard disk partitioning from scratch empty primary disk, no partitions. Secondary disconnected until day 4.


    Secondary HD does turn off, so that inactivity timer/trigger works, and I hear it spin up when I browse it afterwards.

    I would suggest you to try the following steps and check if that helps.

    • Go to the folder C:\Windows\System32 and sort by file type.
    • Look for the screensaver file type (.scr).
    • Find the file scrnsave.scr(you can choose any of the screensavers).
    • Right click and select send to>desktop (create shortcut). The shortcut on my attachment, but when i click on it my screen goes off and on and nothing else.Screensaver and screen time out don't trigger. :)

    Hi all !

    Can anybody help me with my problem ?!

    The thing is that I can`t use any screensaver as its purpose is!

    After I stop using the phone .. it just turns the light off and I can`t see the time for example!

    i've tried different screensavers .. and nothing different happened!

    How come?! The problem just appeared and I`m trying to solve it from long time, but with no result! .. Help please!

    Task scheduler On Idle task not triggered Windows 7

    Windows 10: I've just tested on windows 10 and set the task idle time to be 5 mins, but it
    still triggered after 4 mins only, I've manually timed it 3 times and always triggers after 4 mins not 5 mins, any idea why?

    Windows 7: Isn't the task triggered because Windows 7 does not admire the 4 minute idle timer as
    according to Microsoft Windows 7 checks if the system is idle every 15 minutes? if so then shouldn't it work if the task idle time is set to 20 mins for example?

    UPDATE : I just tested it and manually timed it twice on my Windows 7 machine and it always triggers after 15 mins of Idle time even if I am setting the Idle task to 20 mins. Also my
    application doesn't start although the task is triggered but instead of my application running a screensaver starts running although I am setting screensaver to off on my machine. Any explanations or advice please?
