Windows 10: Screensaver not activating when X360 controller is plugged in (wireless play and charge kit)

Currently running a fresh install of Windows 10 x64 v1903 (18362.356) with just latest drivers and found a problem with the any of the screensavers not activating when my official X360 controller is plugged in via wireless play and charge kit USB cable [no battery inside the controller just powered via USB] with the USB receiver.


No extra drivers have been installed for the controller and Win10 picks it up and works perfectly.


Things tried just in case even though a brand new install.
•reset power management / ran the power troubleshooter [all fine]

•sfc/scannow as well as DSIM cleanup of CheckHealth / ScanHealth / RestoreHealth


If I leave the USB Receiver plugged in but remove the controller screensavers work (testing if it was the controller, receiver or both) but only doesn't work if the controller is plugged in.


Drivers the hardware uses from device manager are:
•Xbox 360 Wireless Controller via Play & Charge Kit [Microsoft | 18/03/2019 | 10.0.18362.1]

My Xbox360 Wireless Controller doesn't work with Play & Charge kit on Windows 10

I have a very new XBOX 360 Wireless Controller which I am successfully playing as wireless using a battery(from the Play & Charge kit) and a original Microsoft USB Receiver.

But when I try to connect play and charge cable to the device, the Four quadrants are blinking sometimes at a slow rate and sometimes a bit faster (All quadrants together).

And its none of the buttons are working.

It shows in Device Manager as "Xbox 360 Wireless Controller via Play & Charge Kit" but wont detect in any game. Even the Charging indicator on the cable is glowing fine (RED color L.E.D)

What could be the issue?

Can I use a Xbox 360 Wireless Controller with Receiver and Play and Charge kit on a PC?

Hello!

I ask this because I don't want to spend money on a new controller and a local store is selling a receiver for $15. I don't want to bite the bullet and buy it since they don't accept returns if it doesn't work.

I have a Wireless Xbox 360 controller which has seen many years of use. Right now, when using it with the console, I'm forced to keep it plugged in with the PaC Kit because the battery pack doesn't charge and also the slot for the pack is a bit "stretched",
so it keeps disconnecting unless I hold down the pack to the controller.

I built a gaming PC back in November and I seriously want to use a controller for a few games. I tried looking online but all I could find is that the PaC Kit only transfers power, which is fine, but I want to know if its possible to connect the controller
via the receiver and still plug in the charge cable and have it working properly.

• Are you using an
  Xbox One Play and Charge Kit to charge your Xbox One Controllers?
• What type of batteries are you using on the controller?
