Windows 10: Screenshot on Windows 10 producing corrupted PNGs

I press PrintScreen button and select an area of the screen to capture, just like normal.
I tried this fix but no luck.

Instead of getting an actual screenshot of what I'm trying to capture I get these strange banded PNG's.
What can cause the screenshot to produce such images?

I see that a simple Google search of "hide mp3 in png" would have done the trick.

Also, no, the steps I listed are the only ones to take.

 

Change Windows 8 Screenshot config of save format from .png to .jpg

in windows 8 , there's a feature to take screenshot automatically if we press windows logo + Prtsc button on the keyboard and it'' save it to C:/pictures/screenshot in .png format. Is there any possible way to change the format through cmd / windows shell
? If so please explain the code step by step. Thank you

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK
