Windows 10: Scrolling in Windows

Hi Everyone,

I'm new to modern Windows -- I used XP back in the day but ever since I switched to Mac and have grown very accustom to Mac-like behavior. One of the biggest annoyances for me at the moment is the scroll wheel. Currently I have my mouse settings set to:

Roll the mouse wheel to scroll: Multiple lines at a time with the number of lines set to 20.

However, on Mac, scrolling is not only dependent on the amount you scroll the wheel, but also on how quickly you scroll. Therefore, it is easy to have both precise control when scrolling, but also be able to scroll multiple pages extremely quickly (just speed up how fast you move the wheel).

So the question: Is there a way to replicate this behavior on windows? I'm open to 3rd party software if need be.

ps. if you're wondering why I switched, it was because I wanted a gaming rig. I still do a lot of my professional work on mac/linux.

scrolling bad

New event. When placing cursor over a list or row of columns, even the volume bar scrolling is automatic and proceeds to one end of the series and stops. The scrolling also stops when I move the cursor away from the list but am unable to select anything in the list. Not all the possible lists are effected. Other sites have recommended mouse/kb fixes. Have tried all those but the phenomena persists. Have not had any known updates recently and don't have a restore point to try. Any other suggestions? W10Pro 1903

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK

Certain window items bounce on Scrolling

Do let us know if your touchpad functionality is fine other than the mentioned issue?

As you are facing issues with scroll options in few of the applications on Windows 10. Try the below and check if it helps.

Method 1: I suggest you to change the mouse & touchpad settings and check if it helps.

• Press Windows key, type mouse
  and select Mouse & touchpad settings.
• Choose appropriately with the following options and check if the issue persists.

• Roll the mouse wheel to scroll
• Choose how many lines to scroll each time
  

Method 2:

Step 1: As you are using touchpad, I suggest you to use different mouse to different ports and check if it helps.

Step 2: I suggest you to boot the computer to Safe mode and check if the issue persists.
