Scrolling on mouse pad doesn't work with Windows 10 update

Hello everyone! I updated to Windows 10 this morning, and after doing so realized that my side scrolling on my mouse pad (I'm on a laptop) doesn't work anymore. Googled, found out it was a driver issue, and went to download the correct driver.

However, acer aspire drivers don't have the touchpad driver updated for Windows 10 yet. Do I have to wait until the driver comes out to fix this issue? If so, any idea how long that could take? (They have the important drivers updated already, those for bluetooth and wifi)

    :)

Do you know which touchpad hardware you have, example: Synaptics or Elantech?

The drivers worked, but the scrolling feature is now two finger instead of one finger on the side of the trackpad. Is that just how all scrolling has been changed to?

Pretty much but if you like the one finger scroll on the side then double click the Synaptics icon in the taskbar.

Then go to the Device Settings tab and click on Settings, this should bring you to the Synaptics touchpad settings where to can change one/two fingers scroll settings and others.

    Good luck!

Yeah, I already looked through the settings and there are no options for one finger scrolling *Sad. Scrolling by default is allocated a multi-finger gesture, but that's okay. I'd rather use two fingers and have it than not have it at all!

Thanks so much for your help! =D

  9. I had this problem so thanks for giving me instructions on how to fix it.
Do either of you know how to enable one finger scrolling for Elantech? I absolutely hate this two finger scrolling - it's so unresponsive

It should be the same as per instructions above to get to the Synaptics Touchpad settings, the same should apply for Elan Touchpads.

One in there you should be able to find one and two finger scroll options.

  13. Scrolling on mouse pad doesn't work with Windows 10 update

I had the problem on my Toshiba T135 notebook which has a Synaptics touchpad. Initially after the update to Windows 10 the touchpad was fully functional, but after this latest round of Microsoft updates the ability to scroll with the touchpad had disappeared. Found that the Synaptics driver had been updated to v19.0.10. Jumped through all the hoops of deleting/re-installing the driver, etc. without any success. Finally downloaded and installed the most recently posted Synaptics v19.0.14.31 driver (tcg0006700g.exe) from the Toshiba support website. That fixed the problem for me and now all of the features appear to work. Hopefully, Microsoft Update will accept it as a more recent driver and not overwrite it with their broken version.

I have had the same issue and found in my case to be a loss of configuration after the Windows 10 migration within the Synaptics control center. You might want to go to the Synaptics icon in the notifications area (bottom right hand side of the screen), Right Click>Properties>Scrolling/Movement (third tab, my system is in Spanish so not sure how the original tabs are denominated).

Here you have the scrolling options: two-fingers use is marked and one-finger use was unmarked in my case. I marked the two boxes for horizontal and vertical and tada! Scrolling worked again.

    Hope this helps *Smile

Many systems don't have these options, and there's no way to configure one-finger scrolling. However, two-finger scrolling works quite well once you figure out the possible inputs. Namely, scrolling and zooming (possibly among others). Scrolling requires two fingers to move together *in unison*. Zooming requires a pinching/spreading vertical or diagonal movement (note that just one finger needs to move). Once you get used to these two different inputs, you'll likely prefer them to single-finger scrolling, although the transition does take getting used to.
