I have two Sculpt Ergonomic Keyboards. One is over three years old, one is just under a month old. I have experienced problems with both of these keyboards dropping key presses across multiple platforms, including an i7 Windows 10 Acernote, an i3 Windows 7 Dell Desktop, and a Galaxy Note 8 using DeX. I experienced the fewest drops on the i7. I recognize that a considerable part of the key drops on the i3 is that the machine is old and over taxed, often with Windows Update downloads, though I can’t imagine why that would effect the keyboard buffer more than the mouse or other peripherals.

I have two Sculpt Ergonomic Keyboards. One is over three years old, one is just under a month old. I have experienced
problems with both of these keyboards dropping key presses across multiple platforms, including an i7 Windows 10 Acernote, an i3 Windows 7 Dell Desktop, and a Galaxy Note 8 using DeX. I experienced the fewest drops on the i7. I recognize that a considerable
part of the key drops on the i3 is that the machine is old and over taxed, often with Windows Update downloads, though I can’t imagine why that would effect the keyboard buffer more than the mouse or other peripherals. A mouse is transmitting many times more
information during use than a keyboard, even at my 130 wpm sustained typing speed, which I’ve had to dial down to under 40 wpm in order to receive better performance from my keyboard.

I am shifting my focus from software coding to writing books. As such, I need my input device to keep up with my higher sustained speeds of typing, otherwise it’s literally reducing my ability to produce income. I have burned through over two dozen

    MS Natural Keyboard 4000
s over the course of the three years before purchasing my first MS Sculpt because their performance degraded after the first three months, and none functioned well after six months. I really don’t want to type on anything but the
MS Sculpt Natural, but if it can’t keep up with human speed typing, what really is the point?

While we’re on the topic, the oversight of including a power switch was poor design. Making such a beautiful product which is especially suited for travel but requiring people to pop batteries in and out, or at the bear minimum a plastic tab in and out
anytime they need to shove the keyboard into a case is frankly inconsiderate. And a watch style battery for a wireless satelite number pad? Not only does it burn out quickly, it’s rather a pain in the butt to change out, to say nothing of as far from cost
effective as one can get. It’s frustrating that everytime Microsoft comes up with something that’s awesome, there’s an equally unawesome drawback. You can do better.

I would really like some direction on what I can do to get better performance out of the keyboard that my hands enjoy so much more than any other interface. I need as close to 100% accuracy from my input peripherals as can possibly be attained and I know
the technology is far advanced of what a mere human can feed it. So, please direct me.

    Thank you

    Bluetooth Sculpt Ergonomic Keyboard

Is anyone aware if Microsoft is considering releasing bluetooth version of the Sculpt Ergonomic Keyboard (or Desktop)?

In my opinion, it would be a great step forward for this great product.
