Windows 10: Sculpt Ergonomic Mouse stops working after installing Mouse and Keyboard Center

I have Microsoft Sculpt Ergonomic Mouse that is work fine in Windows 11 out of the box. The device was detected and the needed drivers were automatically installed by Windows 11. Later I downloaded and installed the the Microsoft Mouse & Keyboard. When the software is brought up, the mouse is detected, but the mouse cursor is frozen. Running the software the first time, the mouse's window key worked, how on subsiquent reboots attemps, the mouse is still detected but the cursor and buttons do not work. After uninstalling the Mouse & Keyboard center software, the mouse works again.

Mouse & Keyboard Center 3.2.116 breaks Microsoft Sculpt Ergonomic mouse

After installing Mouse & Keyboard Center 3.2.116 the buttons on my Microsoft Sculpt Ergonomic mouse no longer work, and the trackpad clicks on my SP5 keyboard also no longer work.

Only fix is to unplug Sculpt mouse and restart SP5, then the trackpad works normally. Plugging the Sculpt back in repeats the issue.

Uninstalled Mouse & Keyboard Center 3.2.116, but Sculpt is still not working. Cannot reinstall Mouse & Keyboard Center 3.2.116 as I now get Error 1603.

 

Mouse not visible in Mouse and Keyboard Center

I use Microsoft Natural Ergonomic Keyboard and Microsoft Sculpt Ergonomic Mouse, The first is visible in Mouse and Keyboard Center, but not the mouse. The mouse
does work, however one of the reasons I have chosen this particular mouse is the additional settings in Microsoft Mouse and Keyboard Center, which I cannot use.

I have already uninstalled and reinstalled Microsoft Mouse and Keyboard Center. No improvement.

The mouse is on the list of supported devices and I'm surprised by this issue as I have never heard such a problem before. It is my second Sculpt Ergonomic Mouse.
