Windows 10: SD Card not recognized and unable to assign drive letter in Disk Management

I recently tried inserting an SD Card into my laptop Gigabyte Aorus 15G and the problem is that it does not get recognized by the file explorer but it does get recognized by the device manager and has the latest drivers. It has no drive letter assigned to it, so I tried assigning it in Disk Management, but every time I try opening Disk Management with the SD Card inserted, it never stops loading. Without the SD Card Disk Management nearly loads instantly but with the SD Card, it still stuck loading even after 10 minutes. Now I cannot use the SD Card at all because I am unable to assign a dri

help. USB drive isn't assigned a drive letter.

Any usb flash drive I plug into my computer isn't assigned a drive letter. The physical drive shows in the "safely remove hardware" but it doesnt show up in disk management. I have tried to populate the volume thru the safely remove hardware properties window and it does pop up in the list but it doesn't stay there. This isn't a format or assign a letter problem. It's more complicated then that. Maybe one of the services needed for usb drive management was disabled? Suggestions needed. btw external usb harddrives work fine.

Attach this SD card in another computer and verify whether the SD card is working or not, If working or you are sure that drive is allright -

Assuming that there is no hardware problem with your SD card -

1. Right click on Windows Start > Device Manager > Click the topmost entry i.e. your device > Click Action in Menu > Click Scan for hardware changes

Now you should be able to see your SD card

2, Right click on Windows Start > Device Manager > Expand Disk Drive > Locate the SD card > Right click on this > Uninstall > Reboot your computer

Now it should be detected

3. Whether the SD card is assigned a Drive Letter or not

Right click on Windows Start > Click Disk Management > If you see your SD card is listed there but there is no Drive Letter > Right Click it > Click Change Drive Letter and Paths > Add > Click Assign the following drive Letter > Click in the Drive Letter List
Box > Choose an appropriate Drive Letter > OK > OK
