Windows 10: SD card Vs. Internal Hard Drive

I don't have much space on my HP laptop, and I was recently told that I needed to buy a larger hard drive because there is barely enough space on my C disk for Windows 10 to run. However installing a hard drive seems much more complex than just getting an SD card.


Both of these can be used for storage, so I'm wondering whether it will be better for me to buy an SD card that can easily be inserted into my laptop, or somehow putting in a new internal hard drive. When I searched up how to physically put in a hard drive there were instructions saying I had to take certain things apart from the laptop, like taking out the battery and removing some screws, but it seems for this laptop the back doesn't come off of it unless I was looking to break it.


I only use my laptop for things like Word documents and PowerPoints for school, apps like Netflix and Spotify, and apps like Microsoft Teams for online classes. So i don't need a huge amount of storage for things like gaming, just enough for the laptop to use Windows 10 and work properly.


Also, my PC type is an HP stream Laptop 14-ax0XX, so is there a certain size of SD card/internal hard drive that fits this specific laptop to avoid buying one the wrong size?

Internal SD Card Drive not Returning/Waking up after Sleep/Hibernate

Here is the setup:

I have an internal SD card reader in my laptop. It contains a 32GB SD card that contains my research library. Information I use on a regular basis.

The problem:

When the computer is woken up after being in sleep or hibernation the SD drive does not return. No media removed chirp. No error reported. There is no evidence that it was ever there in the first place. Taking out the card and replacing it again has no effect. The SD card, and the card reader drive is ignored completely after wake up.

Rebooting will fix the problem, but this isn't really a fix as it defeats the point of being able to sleep the computer in the first place.

System Details: Macbook Pro running Windows 10 through boot camp. System runs Windows 10 almost exclusively. The SD card is internal. None of the USB ports and connect devices experience this problem. This has been an on going problem for months, through numerous updates so I do not think it is a update/driver issue.

Ideas? Suggestions? Anyone?

Using an SD card to install?

He said boot drive, but my interpretation is he meant bootable drive, like a bootable thumb drive. For installation purposes.

I've tried it on my laptop but the internal card reader does not show up in the boot selection list. Alpha, did you try it with a USB SD Card reader? Just curious.
