Windows 10: SD drive not recognizing

I have an SD drive for gopro and 3D printing but I cant seem to get my Windows 11 computer to recognize it and let me put data on it. I've looked at different community posts and re-installed the drivers for this but this is insane that Windows 11 is having a hard time with a SD drive. It seems this has been a problem for a little while now and it seems Microsoft has done nothing to try to attempt to fix it. I've had this problem for over 2 years and I still can't find a reliable work-around for it.

You posted that you would try the suggested steps by Tryx3. May we have an update if the suggested steps have resolved the issue about your SD card being recognized as a fixed drive in Windows 10?

 

SD Card Slot Not Recognized

Thanks for that suggestion. Diskpart only sees one disk, the SSD. When I first received the SD card on Monday, it was working, but I did have some initial issues getting the system to recognize the card. I used the SD card to store an image of the system's SSD. - - - Updated - - -

Apparently, you are correct. I gave the slot a couple of shots of electronics compressed gas duster, and the system started to recognize the SD card. So, I cleaned the slot with 99% pure, anhydrous isopropyl alcohol followed by compressed gas and my Meco Eleverde Compressed Air Duster. The blow job seems to have resolved the issue.

It could be that the SD card is formatted to be recognized as a disk drive instead of a removable disk. May we know if the device is seen as a local drive through Device Manager? If it is, we suggest that you reformat your SD card to NTFS and see if it is
still recognized as a local drive.

Note: Before reformatting a drive, make sure to back up all the files stored in that drive to prevent loss of data.
