Windows 10: Seagate 2 TB External Hard Drive not showing up in File Explorer

I have a new Seagate 2 TB External Hard Drive and it does not show up in File explorer and in Disk Management as well as is described in lot of Microsoft articles and also on the internet. The only place it shows up is in Device Manager under Disk Drive and in the taskbar in Eject Drive option. I have tried almost everything fix I could find on the internet, right from Edit power options to running diagnostics from cmd prompt.

To understand the issue better, please provide us more information.

1. I would recommend you to check in Disk management, if the (Seagate) external hard drive is detecting in Disk management. Follow the below steps:

a. Press Windows Key + R and type diskmgmt.msc and hit
Enter.

b. Check if the system is detecting (Seagate) external hard drive and let us know.

2. What exactly happen when you try to access on the hard drive? Do you receive any error message/error code?

Thank you, Billion, for all the help. Unfortunately, the drive still doesn't show up in File Explorer. The computer recognizes it, and reads that the external hard drive is working properly. However, I still can't access anything inside it.

 

Seagate External Drive not showing in Windows Explorer - Windows 10

Hello,

After reading a few other related posts here, I'm hoping for a bit of additional help. My Windows 10 PC doesn't show my Seagate external hard drive in Windows Explorer, however the Seagate light turns on, I can feel the internal drive circulating, and my PC makes the sound of recognizing something being plugged into the USB port. It shows in Windows Settings under Other Devices as a Portable Drive connected to USB 3.0 and when I open Device Manager>Disk Drives, the Seagate drive is identified and under Properties it says the Seagate Portable SCSI Disk Device is working properly.

When I open Disk Management, it shows Disk 0, partition 1, Disk 0, partition 4, Disk 1, partition 1, Disk 1, partition 2, and Windows C:

All are showing healthy under Status.

I've tried the initial steps of plugging into the other USB port, but as soon as I do, the light on the external hard drive turns on, so I know the PC 'knows' the external drive is there....but I can't see it in Explorer to get access to its contents.

Any ideas you can offer would be appreciated!
