    Search bar on Desktop, Settings, and other major system programs not letting me type.


    In the past few days my computers been having some issues with clutter and slowing down. Yesterday I blue screened three times before it started running again. Now, after that happened my Search Bar on my desktop has stopped working, this includes settings, task manager, control panel, and other system programs. I have accidentally uninstalled 2012 C++ trying to fix the issue but that didnt seem to do anything.

    Unable to view installed programs when i click on the windows icon or type in program name in search box on task bar

    I am unable to view installed programs in the program list. When i click on the windows icon or type in program name in search box on task bar, the program doesn't show up. For example, I installed visual studio, launched it, closed it and searched for
    it in using the above steps. Did not show up. I had to re-install it! As a workaround, I either pin these programs to my task bar or create a desktop shortcut during installation. I use Windows 10 Enterprise edition, Surface book, purchased in August 2016

    Hello DhananjayaSwain,

    We would like to know more information regarding your concern so that we will know why the search bar is not working. Have you recently made any changes/updates prior to this issue?

    Did you run the troubleshooter to rebuild the indexing? If not, I would suggest that you run the troubleshooter to fix common indexing issue. You can run the troubleshooter by performing these steps:

    • Press the Windows key on your keyboard and type
      Troubleshoot.
    • Choose Troubleshoot in the results.
    • Under Find and fix other problems highlight
      Search and Indexing then click Run the troubleshooter.
