Windows 10: search box is empty

suddenly the search box is empty.... I can't run even cmd window that I need for work....
it started today....the problem....never before....
i don't even have cortana installed on my system...
i tried to troubleshoot search index
i restarted windows search in services
i cant figure it out
i followed youtube video several of them to try to fix this nothing helped
etc

I use latest WIN 10
this really gets on my nerves...i need to work and i cant because of this

I would suggest you to run search and indexing troubleshooter
and check. Please follow these steps:

• Right click on Start and select Control panel.
• Find troubleshooting and click on it.
• Click "View all" and then click "Search and Indexing".
  
  Click "Next" and follow on-screen instructions.
