  1. Search does not work inside Windows 10 Settings

    Hi,

I can see this matter has been discussed several times on the internet. Nonetheless there seems to be no final answer or solution for it.

The problem is, the search function inside Windows 10 Settings does not work.

I saw there are mainly 2 solutions offered online:

    1. Go to C:\ , right click, advanced properties and tick the indexing option for all files.

    This doesn't work.

    2. Go to C:\Users\workinguserprofilename\AppData\Local\Packages\windows.immersivecontrolpanel_cw5n1h2txyewy\LocalState\ and do the same thing as 1 above.

    This doesn't work either.

Now I am reading that Windows saves the 'settings' for searching in the user profile - the location is: C:\Users\userprofilename\AppData\Local\Packages\windows.immersivecontrolpanel_cw5n1h2txyewy\LocalState\Indexed\Settings

However this folder is empty. It is suggested to just copy and paste the same settings from another computer, but these are all empty on other computers as well and yet their settings search works perfectly! So I can't copy anything to my computer to fix this issue.

    3. another solution was:

    "

After reading this thread I realized the files are somewhere on the device, but don't get copied to the profile.

I found them in C:\Windows\ImmersiveControlPanel\Settings and copied *.settingcontent-ms files to $Env:LOCALAPPDATA\Local\Packages\windows.immersivecontrolpanel_cw5n1h2txyewy\LocalState\Indexed\Settings\en-US."

However, again this folder only has 1 xml file in each of the computers that I have tested this.

Was anyone able to fix this ?

I feel like I'm going mad here!

    Thanks a lot!

    :)

  2. Windows 10 not working after malware removal

Just be aware if you're on an insider version of Windows 10 Malwarebytes can have trouble playing nice and can cause blue screens. You can search here on tech power up I created a thread with a link to a Malwarebytes beta that does work with windows 10 insider. It's something to do with the Malwarebytes root kit scan function + Windows 10 insider.

But that's only if you're an insider program not regular windows 10

Windows 10 Settings App Search Not working

Thank you for providing some suggestions.

I performed step 1, and at the end of the test, it reported "No changes or updates are necessary."

I then performed step 2 and received the same message at the end of the test.

After running the two tests above, I opened up Settings and typed "privacy", which should show some help categories (It does on my other Windows 10 computers). However, on the one computer there is no help information. It states "No result for privacy".
It appears the Settings app help information list is empty or not found. Typing a single character, e.g., 'p', into the search box displays "No result for p".

    Any further suggestions are welcome.

Is there a convenient way to have windows 10 try to repair itself without uninstalling my software and/or loosing all of my personal data.

    Regards...
