Windows 10: Search Function Not Working after Upgrade to Windows 10

I have 8 NAS drives on my network that is attached to my computer. Prior to upgrade to Windows 10 - from Windows 7 , I could go to file explorer and then search all the NAS drives for the info that I needed.

In Windows 10, I can see on the NAS drives under This PC but when I try to do a search, File Explorer will say working on it and it will never complete - it stops responding. Windows 10 is the latest version(november 2015).

Has anybody else experienced this?

What is the "Search Function" ? I just updated my N95 With the 1gig memory card in it, and there is an icon that say "Search" under main menu. When I select it, it brings me up to a screen that have many things like music, images, and all the other stuff,
like a shortcut list of all the stuff in the phone or some sort.. So does mine work properly? How do I tell if it doesn't work properly?

I wonder if this is simply that the new W10 has not had enough time to finish indexing the 8 NAS drives so that it can conduct the searches. How long have you left it "working on it"? If you have several TeraBytes of data it can take a few hours to index. As well as indexing it may be having to update security permissions for the drives and their folders.

Thanks for the info, I will just let the W10 run and see what happens. I will let you know what I find.

 

I just ran the search on This PC with the NAS drives for 2 hours, and no results. If I run the search on each individual NAS drives, the results are back in a flash. I do not believe that this is a indexing issue. When I was using Windows 7, the same search, whether it was the first or subsequent, would have results in less than a minute across the NAS drives.

Does anybody have any further suggestions?
