    Search not behaving properly

When I press the windows key and enter the start menu, there is a search bar that we are all very familiar with. My cursor is highlighted and it would seem that pressing a key would enter text into the search bar. However, when I press a key, for example "S" it highlights an app I have pinned to the start menu that starts with that letter, in this case "Settings"; the more I press it just rotates through the start apps. Clicking on the search bar makes the entire start menu disappear. I can still use my computer mostly normally since I have had weird windows problems before, even had to use my

    Hidden files not behaving properly

Sorry for the delay in responding; I had to deal with some other things along the way!

I ran Step 5 and got this:

    Search not behaving properly 286323d1593745170t-hidden-files-not-behaving-properly-dism-step-5.jpg

Then I restarted Windows. When I got back into my folder, it looked the same as before and the hidden file was still invisible but this time, when I went into Folder Options, the "don't show hidden files, folders and drives" radio button was selected. I simply clicked the "show hidden files, folders and drives" radio button, clicked on Apply and my hidden file finally reappeared!

Thanks for your help with this!!

I'm still curious about why this functionality broke suddenly but I've got lots of other things on my plate so I think I'll get back to them.

    Thanks again!

I suggest you to create a new user account and check if the issue occurs.

    1. Go to Settings.
    2. Choose Accounts and then select Family and other users.
    3. Select add someone else on this PC.
    4. Enter a user name and hit next.
    5. Click on Finish.
    6. Sign out from the current Account and Log into the new account.
    Step 3:
It could also happen because of network issue. I suggest you to try with different network connection and check if it helps.
