Windows 10: Search showing old, deleted apps and not showing newly installed apps

The search shows old and uninstalled apps but not the newly installed apps, they are present in the start menu but don't come in search. I manually added the start menu folder AGAIN to the Windows indexing location and rebuilt the index but it still doesn't work. Running search and index troubleshooter says "Windows search is not working" and when I try the repair as an administrator, nothing happens.
I'm using Windows 10 Pro 2004 Build 19041.685

If no one else has suggestions, that may be the only option.

It doesn't make sense that if you have succeeded in deleting the index and creating a new one that old results are still found.

I don't recall if you've actually inspected the indexed count shown in Indexing options (at the top) and seen it build from 0 as reindexing starts when you choose to rebuild it. If not, try that to demonstrate that rebuilding really is happening.





If the index resets to zero and then starts increasing when you click Rebuild, search indexing would appear to be working normally.

And just to check, are you certain you haven't indexed folders containing items you think are 'old' results?

Try manually limiting what is indexed. You can add those back later. (Indexing Options, Indexed Locations).

I don't quite remember when it stopped working because I never really noticed it.
CHKDSK says there are no problems in both of my drives (C:, an SSD and D:, an HDD)

The indexer diagnostic app is not available on the MS store
