Windows 10: SearchWithMyBrowser - Open Cortana searches in your default browser

Hi!

Today, I present to you SearchWithMyBrowser, a little tool to open your Cortana searches in your default browser. Since April 28th, Cortana opens Edge, to force Bing upon you.

SearchWithMyBrowser fixes this. It redirects searches to your default browser. If you have anything that redirected searches to another search engine, it will still work.

Installation
First, you need to download the app.


When it's done downloading, run the installer and follow the instructions.


To correctly associate the protocol, search for anything with Cortana and select SearchWithMyBrowser as default.

Done!

Using Chrome with Cortana

Thanks for your help. I tried this but I didn't like the delay and that it opens edge as well as Chrome. I found another tool which is a little more work but is a much better solution.

It's called SearchWithMyBrowser and I've only been using it for about a day but so far it's working great. It forces Cortana to use your default browser and it uses your default browser's default search engine so I didn't even have to use the Bing2Google
add in.

Can we set google as default search provider for CORTANA instead of Bing?

It worked elegantly back before Cortana was switched to use a request protocol that's normally only handled by Edge.

Now it still works, just slightly less elegantly.
SearchWithMyBrowser is a tool that can handle the requests made by Cortana, redirecting them to be requests to the default browser instead. From there, Firefox can redirect it as you want.

I just found your great little program, after yet another Google search for, "Disable Bing for web searches". FINALLY!! I can click on a web result in Cortana, and Firefox opens to Google results again! I've been trying to find a way to ditch Micro$oft Edge and Bing ever since MS disabled FF's "Use this search engine for searches from Windows" option.
Since Github doesn't support leaving comments, when I found that you had posted here, I had to post, to thank you for writing such a wonderful bit of code. Kudos, and keep up the good work!
