Windows 10: Second Monitor Gone, but Computer Still Opening Applications Off Screen - Can't Reach

Hello! I use to have two monitors but I am back down to one. However, my computer doesn't recognize that one monitor is no longer there and keeps putting the "Settings" and other applications on the side of the screen that does not exist. I have tried restarting my computer, updating it, unplugging it and replunging everything back in - but nothing is working and I can't get settings to move over to Screen 1 because it thinks there is another screen available. How do I fix this? I just updated to Windows 11 and I'm not sure if that is the issue, or what but I have to get work done and I need t

For us to properly isolate the issue with your second monitor screen resolution, we would like to know the following:

  Were there any changes made on your computer prior to the issue (e.g., updates, software installation)?

Hi,

Windows 10 may not open applications on the free screen automatically, but you can make applications and/or documents open up on the same monitor all the time.
If your dual monitors are configured as a single extended desktop then what you would need to do to resolve your concern is to open the app that you would like to appear on the correct screen then close the app. Afterwards, just relaunch
the app and it should now always appear on the desired monitor.

Take note though that if the second monitor is disconnected at any time, the app may well try to show up on the non-existent screen. Prepare for such circumstances in advance as its very difficult to drag an invisible window back into the visible
area.
