Windows 10: Second monitor is frozen when waking from sleep, but is still active.

So I am still able to open programs on that monitor and drag them across, but the image is frozen to whatever was on the monitor before sleeping.


I have tried a few things including the troubleshoot, choosing default power options, taking off quickstart, reinstalling the graphics driver and making sure my computer is always updated for all programmes and Microsoft updates.

This problem has been happening for a while now and happens about 1 in 3 sleeps and the only resolution is to restart the PC which kind of defeats the purpose of putting it to sleep.


Does anyone have any resolution for this kind of issue I can try?

2nd monitor frozen on waking to last image before sleeping

I have an acer GD235 set up as my second monitor. It's worked great for years! Recently, after the computer sleeps or hybernates, the systems wakes with both monitors coming on, but the second (Acer) is frozen on the last screen image before sleeping.
The desktop is live underneath as I can pull windows out from under the image. I thought it's the monitor but when I switch that monitor to the primary monitor, the other monitor (Asus) goes black. The only solution is to go to Display Settings and turn on/off
3D Display Settings. I don't need to cycle it on and off, just what ever it's not at the time. Just clicking it once solves the issue.

 

Windows 10 second monitor goes to sleep without an active window in it.

The second monitor goes completely black without an active window or app on that side. Moving the cursor over does NOT wake it. I have my display extended with monitor 1 the main display. Monitor 1 does not go to sleep.

This seems to be by design and not any sort of hardware issue. There must be a way to turn it off.

 

Frozen Mouse After Wake From Sleep

Hi All,

Just an update on my frozen mouse upon wake from sleep issue. I carried out each of the steps below and tested after each one:

1. ensured that my motherboard chipset and BIOS are up to date
2. for each USB Root Hub I ensured that 'Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power' was unchecked
3. for each USB device (mouse and wireless Xbox One adapter) I ensured that the computer would not power off these devices
4. for the Balanced Power mode I disabled the USB Adaptive Suspend mode

Even after all of the steps above, my frozen mouse issue would not go away. My last resort was to try the original USB mouse that shipped with the computer. Immediately after connecting this mouse the issue no longer remained, the computer would wake from sleep and the mouse would work fine.

Based on this information, my belief is that I have a faulty mouse. Is there anything else I'm missing to troubleshoot?
