Windows 10: Second monitor suddenly stops being recognized.

My Dell laptop has being giving me a lot of trouble starting past week. I work with my laptop and a second monitor connected via HDMI.


The problem is that my laptop suddenly stops recognizing the second monitor just in the middle of when I'm working. My screen will first start flashing black for a couple of times the same as when you first connect an hdmi cable to your hdmi port, your screen will go black for a second and then turns normal again, but now it happens multiple times. Then my second monitor won't be recognized anymore.


I found out that every session acts is a little bit different from this step on.


A my screen was zoomed in at 150% I could change it back to 100% zoomed in. I restarted my computer and got a blue screen with "Your PC ran into a problem ..."


B the second time it was quite the same only there were some bright green "broken" pixels in the middle of my screen not fully filled area around 1 by 1 inch. It disappeared when restarting also blue screen.


C the 3th time I just turned the zoom back to 100% and kept working on my laptop screen. But suddenly got the blue screen without restarting.


D The last was a little bit different, the screen flashed quite slowly, my other screen didn't zoom in. When I wanted to go the screen setting the setting application would crash. I could open it, but when pressing on System in the setting app it would crash. Also I didn't have a blue screen on restarting.

Hi,

I am using Samsung series 5 Ultra laptop. installed windows 10 and upgraded to office 2015.

my laptop suddenly stopped recognizing the external monitor (HDMI connection). checked on a few different cables and monitors but nothing happens.

anyone has any suggestion how to fix this problem?

SECOND MONITOR NOT RECOGNIZED

i HAVE WINDOWS 10 AND A TOSHIBA LAPTOP.

ALTHOUGH FOR YEARS MY TOSHIBA RECOGNIZED MY SECOND HP PORTABLE MONITOR, SUDDENLY WHEN I GO TO SETTINGS, DISPLAY I DO NOT SEE THE SECOND PLUG IN MONITOR I USED FOR YEARS.

To assist you better, I would like to ask if the laptop is unable to recognize only the external monitor or other external devices also.

I suggest you to run the Hardware and Devices troubleshooter by following the steps below:

• Click on the Start button, and type “Troubleshooting” on the search bar.
• Click on “Hardware and Devices”.
• A pop-up will appear, click on the “Next” button and your hardware troubleshooting will start.
