speaker ( or sound ) slider switch disappeared

    Hi Hank,

Thank you for posting your query on Microsoft Community.

    • Are you able to use Volume slider on the taskbar?

    • Do you get any error message?

    • Are you able to see sound icon on the taskbar?
I suggest you to hoover your mouse on the right side of the taskbar and click on the sound icon and try to use volume slider and check if it that works.

Follow the steps below and check.

    • Discover the empty slot on the
      Taskbar
      and Right click.

    • Click on Properties.

    • Under Taskbar tab and Notification area
      click on Custom.

    • Tap on Select which icons appears on the taskbar.

    • Turn on Volume option.
Hope this helps. If any other issues get back to us. We are glad to help you.

    Thanks

  3. Volume slider not working on Windows 11

Hi, I'm having this problem in which the volume slider nor the hotkeys work on increasing or decreasing the volume. The visual slider works but the volume of the PC remains static. The only way to increase/decrease it is by altering the volume in the application i'm using (YouTube, Spotify, ecc). I've already tried restarting the service, windows explorer (found the same question from another user but trying the suggestions that were givven to him didn't work). Anyone knows how to fix this problem? Thanks!

    Volume Slider no longer appears

    Hello,Scotty-2541

Thank you for posting in the Microsoft community.

We're sorry to hear that you're having problems with the volume slider not appearing when you click the speaker icon, we understand how annoyed you feel about this and we'll do what we can to assist you, hopefully this issue can be resolved with joint collaboration.

Usually, the problem of disappearing system components may involve the influence of third-party applications, account profile anomalies or the presence of corrupted system files.

We can gradually fix the effects of these issues and narrow down the scope of the problem by following the steps below.

    • Follow the steps in the link below to create a new account:
Create a local user or administrator account in Windows - Microsoft Support
This will help us understand if there is an issue with your account profile that prevents you from operating the Volume Slider on your current account. If you can use the Volume Slider normally on the new account, it means that there may be something wrong with your current account. The easiest way is to back up your data files to the new File Explorer account -> Disk C -> old account name path and transfer them to the new account to continue using it normally.
    • To confirm if the issue may be affected by third-party software, you can perform a clean boot to see if third-party software has compromised your system components. For clean boot steps, see: How to perform a clean boot in Windows - Microsoft Support
Disclaimer: "Clean Boot" boots Windows with a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. It helps you determine if a background service is interfering with your game or program and isolate the cause of the problem. These "clean boot" steps may seem complicated at first glance. However, to avoid problems, follow them in order and step by step to help you get back on track.

    • You can use this command to check and fix if your system files are missing and corrupted, the system looks for the command prompt at the bottom of the search bar, right-click to run it as an administrator, type the following, and press Enter on each line as appropriate:
After you refer to the steps above, you can share some information in this thread and I will answer further for you. Thanks for your understanding and cooperation!

    Best Regards,
