Windows 10: Secondary email ?blocked

I have a outlook.live.com email server and my primary address hotmail is no problem but all of a sudden my secondary and back up email address has suddenly stopped in Outlook.

Now I use this second address for when for example Microsoft send me a code for changing passwords etc I have not changed nay of the mail settings and what is making it more suspect is that the Thunderbird mail is still accessing the secondary account. While this is all well and good I would prefer to have the secondary account in outlook to ave mucking around like this.
I would add that the provider is our national (governmental) telephone service.

Any ideas please??

I have 2 email id's and both of them have Microsoft account while I was installing windows-10 I gave my secondary email to my PC and now it became the admin email to my pc now i want to change my secondary email to primary on my pc and i don't often use
my secondary one. so please help me to change my login email on my pc.

Log into your nokia messaging account on the internet... Then try to add ur primary email first, if it dosn't work, add the secondary email first then the primary email.





I believe you have used a secondary email on ur nokia messaging account. So log in with the other email. then you will be allowed to add this gmail account. Later on ur can swap the other back to be ur primary email...

Can I ask how you accessing this second account? It doesn't sound like a browser since you mentioned mail settings? Could I guess this is Windows Live program?

No Ken this secondary account I have had for many years (30+) it being through the national carrier (and my broadband phone etc provider).

Now I did use WLM for a very long time until they dumped it and wanting to stay with Microsoft stuff so I opted for outlook.live.com

I added both my hotmail and the secondary accounts to this and then around the end of January the secondary account suddenly ended. So I have only access to the Hotmail account. I might add too that this happens on both my 7 and 10 installed machines.

Now the reason I keep the secondary account it in the main for retrieving passwords when a site asks for an alternative email to send a code or similar through to.
I can access this secondary account via Thunderbird but I find this interruption in outlook downloading the secondary account really very annoying and having access TB to get such password change info for example in addition means it becomes very time consuming too.

I have tried the usual - uninstalling the account re adding it to outlook. SFC and CHKDSK malware scans etc etc ad nauseum but with the same result.
I am beginning to suspect this is something to do with Microsoft and once again I am pretty darn annoyed that the Windows systems are dictating to me what I can and cannot use.

Edit: The email I access though a tab on Chrome as a default start up.

 

Well I think I'm getting closer to understanding, I don't run as fast as I use too.

So if I understand this correctly, you had an Hotmail account (which is now Outlook.live.com thanks to rebranding) and to that account you added a (what they call) "Connected Account". This connected account is your secondary account from your National carrier.

Your regular mail comes into the Hotmail account but on Windows 7 and Windows 10 machine it will not retrieve the mail from secondary account. The only way to access is through Thunderbird.

You said you added or re-added the account to no avail.

Does your National provider provide a Web portal for mail? Have you tried accessing that on a new tab in Chrome? (Goal is to prove password, not challenging you, just proving).

Then in Thunderbird, is it set up as POP or IMAP. Are you setting the same in Outlook.live.com?

Has your National provider posted set up instructions and do they support the new Outlook.live.com access?

I had some issue with one of our National providers, Bell, when they decided to go in house for mail and my clients weren't aware of changes.

I'll try that portal you suggest but why after all these years no go?? I think it is Microsoft.
