    Secondary Hard Drive will stop being detected after pc shutdown


    Hello, I have a main boot drive on an ssd connected by a sata cable. The drive in question is my secondary drive F: and it is a regular hard drive, connected by a SATA III cable. When I "Shut Down" my PC the F: drive will not be recognized anymore. I have found that unplugging the SATA cable to this drive while the PC is on and then performing a "restart" will fix the issue. How do I permanently solve the problem? I looked into the windows log and there was only one consistent error that repeatedly showed up, "The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first". I always use the "

    Windows 10 1909 Causes Secondary Hard Drive to not be Recognized

    Installing the Windows 10 1909 Update causes my secondary hard drive to not be recognized.

    Steps to confirm issue:

    • Secondary drive not visible in Windows Explorer
    • Secondary drive not visible in device manager
    • Secondary drive not visible in disk manager

    Steps to replicate issue:

    • Installing 1909 update

    Steps to resolve issue:

    • Uninstall 1909 update

    Since updates can only be delayed for so long, an actual fix would be appreciated.

    SSD Detected - Secondary Drive (Hard drive) is not

    Ever since doing a fresh install of Windows 10, in "This PC", my secondary hard drive is not in the list. I have already tried right clicking "This PC" and clicking Manage -> Disk Management, but there is nothing there except my SSD with Windows 10 installed.

    I have tried changing SATA cables, SATA ports, but it still does not appear in This PC. I have also tried installing my hard drive on a another computer to see if the files were corrupted. They were not, all files were still the same before the installation
    of Windows 10. I did not leave the hard drive plugged in during the installation.

    In the BIOS, my computer recognizes both my SSD and my hard drive, but in This PC, it's still missing.

    Anything else I can do? Thank you! Secondary Hard Drive will stop being detected after pc shutdown :)
