Windows 10: Secure boot on Windows 10

Discus and support Secure boot on Windows 10 in AntiVirus, Firewalls and System Security to solve the problem; When I go to Advanced Start-up in Windows 10 to try and enable secure boot, that option does not appear on the menu of start-up changes I can make....     Secure boot on Windows 10


    When I go to Advanced Start-up in Windows 10 to try and enable secure boot, that option does not appear on the menu of start-up changes I can make.

    This might mean that the hardware does not support it. The PC is a VAIO made by Sony who exited the PC business some years ago. I did not find the answer to this on their web site.

    The PC is Sony VAIO VPCL22Z1E. Core i7-2670QM @2.20 GHz; 8 Gb RAM. 64-bit.
    My Windows 10 is Windows 10 Home v1803 build 17134.407.

    Can someone answer either (or, preferably, both) of these questions?

    1. Can that model of Sony PC support secure boot?
    2. If it does not, does that mean I cannot activate Windows Defender?

    You will gather that I wish to activate windows Defender.

    Here is a statement from a Kernal Developer at Red Hat:

    I'm not sure this exploits the legacy BIOS but rather it exploits the legacy boot method on MBR drives, injecting a signed key before the OS boots, which you are correct in that it has nothing to do with Windows 8. And the simplest fix would just be to require boot drives use GPT when Secure Boot is enabled in UEFI.

    So Linux is switching to secure boot also? Or they have to because of UEFI?

    Hey Dj Urko, I am trying to install the realtek driver and I get the error 0x0001. I have disabled secure boot and Driver signature. I have the latest win 10 build. What am I doing wrong? Can u post the complete list of steps that I have to take? I have an asus z170 with alc1150.
