Secure Wipe and install Windows 10

I want to securely erase my Hard Drive with no traces left and then install Windows 10 as I am facing a bad infection *Sad . My Hard Drive is 700 GB and my BIOS is in UEFI Mode with Secure Boot enabled. Can anyone please help me erase my Hard Drive fully? If so, when wipe the Hidden Sectors on the Hard Drive can I even boot from my USB or I erased a sector that means I can not install Windows 10. Thanks, and remember, I want it 100% Erased and free.

  2. Windows 10 upgrade, clean install, wipe and install won't ever boot

    Hi Kevin,

Thank you for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

I can understand, how frustrating it can be, when things don’t work as expected.

I'd be glad to help you.

I would suggest you to check your system hardware requirements to support Windows 10, in the link, mentioned below:

    System requirements:

Windows 10 System Requirements & Specifications | Microsoft

Let's try to follow these methods below and check, if it helps:

    Method 1:

If your PC won't start, you can use installation media to restore from a system restore point, reset your PC, get to advanced troubleshooting options (like safe mode), or perform a clean installation of Windows 10 or a previous version of Windows.

To restore from a system restore point, reset your PC, or get to advanced troubleshooting options from installation media:

    • On a working PC, go to the
      Microsoft software download website
and create Windows 10 installation media.
    • Insert the installation media you created, and then restart your PC.
    • On the Install Windows screen, select Repair your computer. (If you’re not seeing this screen, your PC might not be set up to boot from a drive. Check your PC manufacturer's website for info on how to change your PC's boot
      order, and then try again.)
    • On the Choose an option screen, select Troubleshoot. From there, you can:
      • Restore from a system restore point by selecting Advanced options >
        Start up repair.

    Method 2:

If the issue still persists, try to refer to the Microsoft article link, mentioned below, to fix your issue with the black screen:

    Troubleshoot black screen problems:

    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-10/troubleshoot-black-screen-problems

Please feel free to contact us, if you face any issues with Windows.

    Thank you.

  3. Windows 10 upgrade, clean install, wipe and install won't ever boot

Hi, so for the second time I sillily decided that upgrading to 10 would be a good idea. The last time I tried I got stuck in the boot loop and had to reinstall Windows 7. This time it's been an even worse experience. I used the upgrade feature, and got through
the install, only to constantly be stuck on a black screen. Restarting in safe mode, with networking, or even boot logging yields nill. I tried doing a clean install, same results. I wiped EVERY DRIVE I OWN, and tried just as a hail mary to get something working,
and still nothing. I can get through the screen with the new windows logo and the spinning dots on the bottom, then it just goes straight to a black screen. I've tried turning off fast boot, i've swapped out video cards, i've tried doing the cntl-alt-delete
manually logging in route, and nothing. Now i'm stuck with a computer that shows bios fine, and loads through past the windows screen, and then is just a black screen. Constantly. To make matters EVEN BETTER, if I try to load a Windows 7 install CD and boot
from that, Windows 10 says no and tries to load itself. So now i'm really just completely left in the dark. Any help would be appreciated, spec's below to see if there's some random compatibilty issue.

    Mobo - Asus Sabertooth Z97

    RAM - Corsair Vengeance DDR3 1600 (4x8gb sticks)

GPU - Radeon 5750 (dunno the brand) or ASUS Strix 390X

    CPU - 4770K

HD- 2-250 TB WD HDD, 1-1TB WD HDD

May I ask, does the Diskpart command remove the hidden partitions as well? And can I successfully install Windows 10 with no problems after using the Diskpart command?
    Thanks,

Yes it removes everything. You end with totally unallocated space, ready to install windows 10 again.

Thanks John and everyone else who replied.
John, does Diskpart erase my Manufacturer OEM Product Key? Another question for John, what are the command lines as I will do it within my Windows 10 Installer.
Does Killdisk erase Hidden Partitions and does Parted Magic erase Hidden Partitions?
    Thanks,

Kill disk gets rid of and overwrites every single bit on whole drive. Other disk partition programs also have safe erase with overwrite.

Secure Wipe and install Windows 10

If you had windows 8/8.1 originally the key is in the BIOS, and won't be erased. If it is a windows 7 key you can use showkey to retrieve it. Solved Showkey - Windows 10 Forums . Since you had windows 10 installed, it will automatically activate again, just click on "skip" where it asks for a key during installation.

Thanks for the solution mate, it will help me. Over the night, I will boot from my clean Windows 10 Media which was created before I was infected and run the lines. You helped me a lot. If this works, I will mark it as a answer. When will I respond? I will respond at around 4:30PM tomorrow as I have to go to School. As in my experience, the infection has gone worse. Someone now has access to talk to me with his Mic! I think that it is a Trojan. This must be some high level infection. But now it will be erased from my Hard Drive.

Not sure why you would be needing a secure wipe. If its just a virus that is just in the OS then just deleting all the partitions and reinstalling Windows would be enough. No point in doing a wipe that takes several hours to complete and shortens the life of the drive if you have an SSD. If you were transferring ownership of the computer then I could understand that.
