Windows 10: Security Definition Updates

Since the latest update to Windows 10, KB4516115 & KB4514601 on 9/13/19, no Security Definition Updates have downloaded. Normally they download on a daily basis. Concerned I am not getting the updates and am open to virus, etc. Any thoughts??

Hi mknic,
I have literally just installed the definition update KB2267602 without any problem. I suggest as a first step checking all the Windows Defender settings to make sure they all have the 'green ticks' in each section.






ps. The only reason the 'Family Options' is not ticked is because I am the only user on my computer.

I also would suggest running the 'Troubleshoot' feature in the Update & Security settings which has a section dealing with update problems.

Thank you Elba for the prompt reply. However, there is a problem: In "Control Panel" under the "Programs and Features" page > "View Installed Updates" the " Windows Defender Definition Updates" are NOT listed. Consequently, I cannot delete/uninstall them.
The same thing happens when I use "Settings" >" Updates & Security" > "View Update History". Here the Definition Updates are all listed but I can't uninstall them either. Any other suggestions?

Go to Security and Maintenance, Look in Security and see what program is listed under Virus Protection

In the search box enter security and maintenance then select Security and Maintenance

Windows Defender will not launch if there is a 3rd party registered.

Also, verify that you have removed all other rəal-time anti-malware products that wereever
installed on your PC, including free/trial product that were installed when the PC was purchased (Norton, McAfee, AVG, Malwarebytes (paid), etc). Then, use the cləanup tools here:

Restart after you run their removal tool, whether prompted to do so or not. REBOOT

But does Windows Update work?

Download the
Windows Update Troubleshooter, and then selectOpen or
Save in the pop-up window.

This is likely system file damage or corruption.

Windows Key +X, selectCommand Prompt (Admin) tap or clickRun as
administrator, type sfc /scannow and return.

If it finds errors, it will try to correct them.

Run it until there are no errors.

After running the Repair, reboot & test.
