Security issue / Bug - Pressing enter key wrongfully unlocks Windows 10 on lock screen...

    Hello,

I have tried so many keyword combination to find anything about this on Google and I always get suggestions on how to unlock my computer without using a password, which is exactly what I DON'T want lol... I remember posting a post several months ago on some Windows forums and of course I only got some supposedly Windows 10 "experts" who asked me to reproduce some useless troubleshooting steps which did not help at all (*rolls eyes*). So either I am still the only person on earth with this serious issue or I don't know how to search, because it is still not corrected after several months...

Here is the problem (pretty simple):

    • I have my laptop (Windows 10 Pro) setup to auto-lock after a while of inactivity... Which is pretty standard so far.
    • After auto-locking, it goes to the Windows default lock screen with images and other information... Still pretty standard.
    • When I come back on that auto-locked screen, the expected behavior would be that I press enter and I get a password prompt, like when I initially log into Windows... However, the lock screen simply goes away with a "curtain up" animation and I go straight to Windows without any password prompt... REALLY not standard lol... This is serious, it's been going on for months and I really can't put the finger on the exact circumstances when the bug happens...
    • A few other informations:
      • It does not always happen.
      • It does not seem to happen after the monitor is turned off, only if I am still on the auto-lock screen.
      • It does not happen if I manually lock the computer with the start menu or by pressing Win-L.
      • The computer is well set to ask for password every time. I double-triple-quadruple-checked all the settings and it SHOULD ask for password. This is really unexpected / unwanted behavior. The fact that sometimes it does ask the password like it should proves that the settings are OK.
      • Windows is up to date and my updates have been made as they are coming out for all the months that this bug happened.

Please, did anyone else experience this serious security issue and did you find a way to correct it? My computer should be password locked and it is not... This is some serious sh**...

  2. Unlock by pressing key on keyboard (not working anymore)

I've got a weird one... anyone else had the ability to unlock (meaning swipe away the lock screen to get to the password screen) by pressing a key on the keyboard go away? In other words, I used to be able to walk up to my computer and press the space key and then enter my password. That no longer works. I now have to click the unlock screen.

It's been happening at random to my Windows 10 machines. Some still work, others don't. My work PC is the latest casualty.

Happening to anyone else? Know a fix?

  3. BUG - Windows 10 lock screen (Spotlight) unlocks without even entering a password when auto locking

    Hello,

This is a SERIOUS security issue with Windows 10, so I hope someone will take it seriously. I did not find any way of reporting a bug to Windows other than with the Feedback tool, which I don't use because I don't want to link my computer to a Windows account.

    PROBLEM:

    • Since a few weeks, when my computer (laptop) locks from inactivity, the Spotlight screen takes over, like it always did. However, a simple click of the mouse or pressing enter will remove the Spotlight screen (goes up like a blind) without even having to
      enter my password.
    • The box to enter the password is really there, ready to receive my password, but as soon as I click or hit enter, computer unlocks without even a password.
    • This does not happen if I manually lock the computer or if I boot or come out of sleep.
    • The screen saver is set to "ask password on resume".
    • Everything else is like it always was and it used to work just like expected.
    • I inspired myself of the post here
      https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/laptop-automatically-unlocks-with-a-password-set/df719d7f-3a6e-4722-a0bd-5851d6e4152d
to do a bit of troubleshooting and I am pretty sure all my settings are ok.
This is EXTREMELY SERIOUS Microsoft... Computer is supposed to be locked and protected by password and it unlocks without even entering a password... How worse can it go....

Security issue / Bug - Pressing enter key wrongfully unlocks Windows 10 on lock screen...

Windows 10 - How do I unlock lock screen by pressing any key like Windows 8/8.1?

Having a single (local) user with no password

    • In Windows 8/8.1, I could unlock the screen by pressing any key.
    • In Windows 10, I first see the "background" lockscreen (the one that has a configurable background and shows the time) which I can dismiss using any key.

But right after that I see a "Sign in" screen where I have to press the "Sign in" button (Using mouse, or Tab, Enter).

How can I skip the second screen (the "Sign in" screen) and just have the one that I can dismiss using any key?
Or just skip the second using any key?

I've tried to disable lock screen using Group Policy Editor and Registry, and User Account settings (netplwiz.exe).

It just disabled the first screen, so I have the "Sign in" screen which I can bypass now using just Enter because it's focused already, yet I prefer unlocking using any key, and moreover I prefer to see only the first screen as it is nicer and more informative.
