Windows 10: SECURITY ISSUE : WiFi connects automatically on start-up... Unable to prevent laptop from...

i m putting it in network and connectivity, but it is more of a security issue ....


every time I start my computer, it automatically connects to the available WiFi connections even when I have not selected auto-connect unchecked the connect automatically box and have set the connection as public connection.as seen in screenshot..


if I shut down device with wifi disconnected, then it doesn't automatically reconnects on device restart.

BUT, if the computer is shut down/restarted/hibernated/etc with the wifi still connected, it automatically reconnects on boot.


this is the time when machine is most vulnerable to attacks as security programmes have not yet started, and the laptop connects to internet without permission.


this is a serious security issue.....


i am having latest wifi drivers, both as per windows and manufacturer website.

Also the firmware on my router is updated.

i have already tried below mentioned process as advised by windows support assistant :


" Please click on start and search for cmd. Then open the command prompt as administrator. Then type "sfc /scannow" Without the quotes "" there and hit enter.

Let the scan be 100% and completed.

Then: Again click on start and search for cmd. Then open the command prompt as administrator.

Copy and Paste "DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth" Without the quotes "" Hit Enter

Let the scan be 100% and completed.

After that restart your PC

Then please try updating from this https://www.microsoft.com/en-in/software-download/windows10 link manually. You will be updated.

After that again restart your computer.


It will resolve the issue. "

OR, is it a new way that windows behaves now ?

ie. Connecting to the wifi even when not asked to. And even when the connection is clearly marked as public.

Laptop unable to automatically connect to university wifi

Hello,

as the Title says, ever since upgrading to windows 10, my laptop will not automatically connect to my university wifi. It simply says (translated from german) "connection to this network is impossible".
to bypass this issue i have to go to the "known networks" list and make my laptop forget the university wifi network.
after that i can manually connect to the wifi and it prompts me to type in my id and pass as it is supposed to, then it logs me in. It is (obviously) a public network, so i suppose its got to do something with security settings, but i didnt find anything that would seem to solve the issue.
things ive tried:

• change frequency of 802.11 to 20MHz only (from automatically).
• enable FIPS encryption.
• Update my network adapters drivers.
• manually type in the id and pw in the specific networks settings

the thing is, when i had win7 on this laptop it would always autoconnect to this network, it only happened after installing win10.

Go see the campus IT gods that handle student network issues. They are there for a reason and may have to redo the setup to allow your unit to connect to the campus network if there was something they had to do before.

Also they can lock out a computer that flags on the system as an issue, and again go see the IT gods on campus.
