Windows 10: Seeing strange errors: Windows firewall service is not running and cannot find a way to get...

Hi, I have a very weird problem that has manifested itself in the last few days.


I have Windows 10. I have plenty of RAM and free disk space.

PROBLEM 1: For some reason, if I want to open a picture, the Photos app will say "There’s a problem with Photos. Contact your system administrator about repairing or reinstalling it."


PROBLEM 2: If I try to sign into Windows using my Live account it'll just disappear. It won't show the enter your username and password.


PROBLEM 3: The firewall is not running. I cannot restart it. I cannot stop it.


PROBLEM 4: When I tap "Use Recommended Settings" the button doesn't do anything. It just disappears. This is very very strange.

I get the feeling, my computer has to be reinstalled. The issues are very, very strange. Photos won't start. See error above.


2 When I run this command in the power shell as an Adminstrator


Get-AppXPackage -AllUsers Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$$_.InstallLocation\AppXManifest.xml"}

I see the following message.


Add-AppxPackage : Deployment failed with HRESULT: 0x80073D0A, The package could not be installed because the Windows

Firewall service is not running. Enable the Windows Firewall service and try again.

error 0x80073D0A: Failed to install package 7EE7776C.LinkedInforWindows_2.1.7098.0_neutral__w1wdnht996qgy because the

firewall service is not running. Ensure that the firewall service is enabled and started.


So the firewall isn't running. I never shut it off. Did an update bust it? I don't have any virus. What can I do to recover the system?

Windows 10 Firewall won't keep my inbound/outbound rules

Hi,

I realize the inconvenience caused to you regarding the Windows Firewall. I will certainly assist you.

I suggest you to restart the Windows firewall service and check if it helps.

Follow the below steps for the same.

• Press Windows key + R simultaneously for Run.
• Type services.msc and then Enter.
• Right click on the Windows firewall services and then restart the services and check if it helps.

If the issue still persists then I suggest you to remove and then read the Windows fire wall rule.

Is window 10 firewall 1 way or 2 way?

I would like to know on how to create a white and black lists for firewall, so whenever any unknown traffic, it pops up and request permission and add into white or black lists in order to control and monitor and where to backup those lists as well.

On the other hands, there are windows firewall and windows defender, is there any difference in term of firewall?

Do you have any suggestions on whether win 10 Firewall has this feature or not?

Windows Defender Firewall error code 0x800706d9

2. Since when are you facing this issue?
   
3. Have you tried installing Picture viewer and Calendar app after it getting uninstalled?
   

Based on your information, I would like to inform you that if you are using third party anti-virus program Windows defender will automatically turn off from your system you will not able turn it on manually.

Let’s try simple troubleshooting steps and check if this helps in resolving the issue. Follow the below methods.

Method 1: Check the following services and ensure it is started.

1. Press Windows and R key together on your Keyboard.
   
2. Type Services.msc and hit Enter.
   
3. Search for the following services:
   

• Base filtering engine Service
• Remote Procedure Call Service
• Windows defender firewall service

4. Start the above services and reboot the device.

Method 2: I would suggest you to try running the troubleshooter to enable the firewall. Use the below link to run the troubleshooter.
